Well this was different.

When Jenny had entered the ball that night, out of all the things that could have happened, this certainly wasn't one of them.

Right now, this very second in fact she was being kissed by none other than Nate Archibald.

Yes, Nate Archibald.

He was the guy with the million dollar smile that made you go weak at the knees.

He was the guy, who if you had the privilege to look into his blue eyes, they instantly hypnotized you.

Not even Chuck Bass (who by all accounts, though he was a complete and utter sleaze was still hot) could compare.

This moment should have been perfect.

After all she was being kissed by the hottest guy on the UES.

Well, except for the fact that:

A: He thought she was Serena

And B: His girlfriend was Blair Waldorf, resident bitch and Queen of the UES.

Who would no doubt kill Jenny if she ever found out about this.

All very, very good reasons why she shouldn't be kissing him.

But although Jenny was a sensible girl, when it came to Nate Archibald, her heart didn't listen to reasons A and B.

She allowed herself a few seconds of bliss, before coming back down to earth, just a few precious seconds of pretending.

Pretending as though Nate thought was kissing her instead of Serena.

A few short seconds of allowing herself to believe that she was loved and wanted by the prince charming of the UES.

Then she broke away.

Hard and fast so she wouldn't have time to register the pain.

Like a coward, the girl pretending to be Serena van der Woodsen, ran off into the crowd.

Blair was going to kill her, when she found out.

Jenny knew she would, sooner or later.

But for once, being popular to Jenny didn't matter.

All that mattered to her was the soft feel of Nate's lips on hers.

It was perfect, just the way a kiss should be.

When Jenny returned home that night, for once she wasn't worried about tomorrow.

She wanted to focus on tonight.

And even though, Jenny knew that she would probably never get to kiss him again.

She was happy.

When she and Nate had kissed, it had felt so right.

But how could it?

When Nate was made for Blair?

Jenny didn't know the answer to that one.

Maybe she was the one who was made for Nate instead?

She knew it could never happen, but she allowed herself to dream.

Just for tonight, she could pretend.

Pretend that he loved her as much as she loved him.

And pray that maybe someday he would.
