A/N: Based off Karakuri卍Burst. I do not have a translation on this song, and frankly, I don't care. This is purely from my interpretation. Creating a massive story around this idea, but it will take time. For now, have this piece.
"So what now?" the boy asked, measuring her scarlet eyes that reflected his own azures. "Are you going to shoot me?"
The girl stared back in silence for a moment, then pulled her pistol back and pressed the release, allowing the magazine to clatter to the ground. "You know I can't shoot you, you idiot," she answered, a single tear sliding down her cheek. "What about you? Would you cut me down?"
The boy offered a small grin before withdrawing his sword from her collar and sheathing it. "You don't call me the German samurai for nothing, I presume."
"So it's because I'm a woman?" she asked, cracking a small smile of her own.
"Of course not," he replied. "I love you because you're my sister."
At this, the girl broke into tears. The boy stepped forward and embraced her, allowing the salty drops to soak the shoulder of his uniform. They stood bound until she regained control of her emotions.
"We can't both go back alive, you know," she whispered.
"Yes, I know," he said, releasing her. "But I no longer intend to return."
She raised her eyes to meet his. "I see. Then I will go with you."
The boy frowned. "Are you sure? We…I may die in this."
The girl nodded. "You won't, I'll make sure of it. We have no place safer to be than with each other. Or do you trust your leaders…my leaders?"
"True," the boy agreed. "I'm starting to wonder exactly how much of this they've planned. Anyway, it's your choice."
"Then it's two debts of ten years of pain, to be paid in full," she stated, drawing her robe tighter.
"Very well. First, though, we should find a place to sleep. I don't think the local inns would take kindly to my presence," he mused, starting down the stairs.
"…Brother."
He turned. "Hm?"
The girl leaned in and pressed her lips lightly to his for a moment. "Don't you ever," she murmured, "ever, leave me alone again."
The boy gave her the warmest smile he could muster, lacing his fingers with hers. "I promise I won't."
