Hey guys, it's been a long time since I wrote this chapter. I wrote this in 2012 and all I could say is that my English teacher would be very upset. Since then, I have been out of high school for a couple of years and currently in college. I still love to read fanfic but writing a story is really not my type of tea. Recently, I got a notification that someone favorite this story and I just had to rewrite this. Not much has been done. There are slight changes, maybe a little more added details but besides that, it's almost practically the same.

Anyways... have a good day everyone!EDIT: Rewritten and edited 4/20/2016 - 4/21/2016

Today was just one of those days. One of those days that felt like pure hell. Life used to be about living and succeeding because there's always a hope or dream that needs to be completed. But it's nothing. What happened to those distance times, before she knew about vampires, werewolves, witches, and hybrids. Or a certain Hybrid. How can one family change everything in her little town of Mystic Falls? How could one man be so heartless, cruel, cold, inhuman, brutal, horrible, unforgiving, monstrous. Sure, before he came along there was already trouble brewing with Logan, Kathrine, Elijah even Damon. But no, he had to be something that was completely different.

Caroline leaned against the balcony rail of her small flat, taking in the view of Grand Park. She watched as the cars passed by, tourist were taking photos of everything in the city. She sighed and placed her forehead against the railing. She closed her eyes and let her mind drift.

It was the 1920's Decade Dance. She was dancing with Tyler, whom came back the other day with his sire bond finally broken. Everything was great, almost too perfect honestly. She looked past Tyler's shoulder and saw Bonnie and Jamie dancing and laughing. Caroline smiled and laughed at one of Tyler's silly dance moves.

"Everything is calm. Definitely something I needed for tonight." She thought as the song started to slow down. Soon, every couple was on the dance floor slow dancing. She let her hand gently run through Tyler's hair and let the music guide them. But Tyler suddenly stopped. "What is it?" she asked. She noticed he was looking past her and his grip on her hand was starting to hurt. She turned around and saw him staring at them. She felt Tyler pull her closer to him as he approached them. She looked at Tyler nervously.

"Where have you been mate" he questioned.

Tyler stood in front of her, "I just got back in town."
"Funny, I don't recall giving you permission to leave in the first place." He stated. He looked over at Caroline, his eyes looking her up and down before lingering on her face. She swore she saw a slight smirk on his face but it was gone in a blink and he was glaring at Tyler.

Klaus chuckled. "You don't mind if I cut in, do you?" He smirked at her.

Caroline glared back, "Actually yes. I do mind." She moved closer to Tyler, trying to pull him away. When he didn't move, she glaring at Klaus while all he did was smirk at her. "I don't bite." Klaus held out his hand, holding it in the air for her. She felt Tyler give her a small push towards him. Confused, she turn towards him.

"Go, it's okay" Tyler urged.

She sighed, and very slowly, took Klaus's waiting hand, and followed him as he brought her towards the middle of the crowd. Klaus pulled her closer, their hands together, his hand on her lower back. But Caroline refused to look at him.

"Why do you always have to prove that you're the alpha male." He scoffed and smiled at her. "What are you talking about, I am the alpha male." He lead her away from him just to pull her back and curl her into him. She was facing away from him and she can feel his breath on her neck.

"You would've loved the 1920's, Caroline. The girls were reckless, sexy, fun. They literally used to dance until they dropped." She shuddered a little, making Klaus smirk grow wider.

She scoffed and rolled her eyes, "I don't suppose that ever happened to their dance partners." He spun her around and she was face to face with him. She looked into his eyes, and she thought she saw a hint of sadness.

"You should be nicer to me. I'm leaving town tomorrow. I'd invite you to come with me but we both know you're not ready to accept my offer."

She laughed at him and glared. "What makes you think that I would go with you in the first place?"

He kept staring at her, his face softened, "Perhaps one day, in a year, or even in a century you'll turn up at my door and let me show you what the world has to offer."

He spun her around one last time before he kissed her knuckles goodbye. He gave her once last look before he left her there in the crowd. She watched his retreating figure, confused at his words. She could feel Tyler start to pull her away but her eyes continued to search for him.

Caroline groaned and walked back inside into her kitchen, grabbing a cup to make tea. She stood there looking at everything in the room. Her cooking books were lined up perfectly. All her dished washed and put back in her cabinets. There was hardly a speck of dirt anywhere and if there was, she made sure to clean it. But then again, she moved into the apartment a couple weeks ago. Between unpacking boxes and remodeling some of the interior design, it certainly wasn't enough time to really break in her kitchen. A window was built above her sink, letting the lights from the city brighten her kitchen. In the distance, she can hear the honking of the cars and the murmur of people's conversations. The clock on the wall read 12:30 p.m.

It took her a very long time to finally leave Mystic Falls. After a werewolf named Hayley came into town, she found out of her and Tyler's plan. She was 100% on board. They were successful with one of Klaus's minions, Chris, yet he was killed by Jeremy, which made him one of the Five hunters. And saved Elena, again. Which would of been the story of the year. But going to your boyfriend's house just to walk in on your boyfriend and his so called "friend", making out and grinding against each other was not something she planned to see.

But that was a long time ago. 45 years ago. Last time she heard, Tyler and Hayley moved to Washington, trying to find a pack to call family. Matt and April became vampires a couple days after everyone discovered that Jeremy was the next hunter. Rebekah, who was daggered by Klaus, was undaggered by Stefan and was slowly rebuilding her relationship with Matt. Never did she think that she would stand in the same room as Rebekah and not kill her; let alone, have Rebekah help her trying to find Klaus. Which, she hasn't been doing a great job at doing. Jeremy, with the help of April, was trying to control his urge to kill every supernatural being. The tattoo was driving him crazy, but he was slowly, yet surely, recovering to his old self. Piece by piece.

45 years hasn't done anything to Jeremy's complexion. He still looks 21 but more muscular. Elena and Damon got been together after Elena almost died for the hundredth time, guess Damon couldn't bear the thought of losing Elena again. Elena has been trying to help Jeremy with his addiction, and she (surprisingly) has not gotten killed by him yet. Stefan quickly left for California. Caroline was happy for him, Mystic Falls had so many horrible memories for him, if Stefan stayed one more year, he probably would of cracked. Go psycho or something. She can't blame him honestly. Bonnie left and now she travels the world trying to find ancient witch artifacts and this tomb with that professor guy from Whitmore College.

"What was his name again? Shane? Yeah... something like that" she thought. For her, in those 45 years, she's been trying to find Klaus. Flying between California, New York, Chicago, even Minnesota. Heck, she was almost so desperate she considered Arkansas or Louisiana, somewhere southern. She heard rumors of a witch massacre and a "vampire king". But she never found anything that connected back to him. It's as if he fell off the face of the planet. Until now.

Caroline looked at the piece of paper on her counter and picked it up slowly.

Sweat Caroline,

A little wolf told me you were trying to find me.

Come.

She carefully set it down and set her cup into the sink. Her eyes wandered to the letter. He was closer to her than she thought. She finally decided to stay in New York two years ago. She'd never forget the imprint he left on her, how many times she lost her mind, thinking that she will never see Klaus. When she told her friends about her plan, they screamed at her. Elena screamed at her, Tyler looked like he wanted to rip her apart. The things she heard from them made her cringe and cry. She couldn't forget the shame in Matt's eyes or even Bonnie's. The only person who understood was Stefan.

Caroline walked over to her bed, falling down on it. Saint Stefan. He understood that she needed to find Klaus. They left together but once they were out of Virginia, they went separate ways. But he supported her, letting her stay whenever she was in California and even going to Minnesota with her. Caroline smiled and tucked her self into bed.

Staring up at the ceiling she closed her eyes. "Klaus..."

Caroline P.O.V.

Slowly, I walked into the parlor, listening to someone playing the piano. I looked around, examining what was barely there. There wasn't much, some landscape portraits, a fireplace. Two huge chairs were facing the fire place. On the other side of the wall was a sofa set, a coffee table and a big bookshelf. For someone who liked to show off his wealth, the room was very bare. I looked to the left of me and there was a huge french door, opened to let the summer wind in. I saw the drapes open from the wind and my breath stopped. There he was, his back was facing me and all I could do was lean against the wall. I closed my eyes and listened to him continue playing the piano.

It sounds so familiar, Beethoven? Yiruma? Alfred Brendel? I opened my eyes and slowly pushed off from the wall and walked til I stood a couple feet away from him.

"Klaus..." I whispered. He didn't say anything, didn't move an inch. Or stop playing. This was a mistake Caroline! Why did you have to go look for him?! You and your stupid feelings.

I whispered his name again and he suddenly stopped. He got up and faced me. He looked just as handsome as I remembered. His stormy green eyes were piercing my heart and my eyes fell on his raspberry lips. He had a clean shaven face instead of his growing beard. It took everything in my willpower not to touch him right there and then.

"You found me after 45 years, I believe." He finally said after of what seemed like minutes of silence.

I nodded and looked up at him, and our eyes locked. "I would of found you sooner but you're really difficult to find."

Klaus smirked and I felt my legs go weak. The smirk that once sent anger through me, gave me butterflies in my stomach. I walked around the room, trailing my hands along the sofa and table before looking outside the french doors. I could see a stable and some horses grazing outside.

"As delighted as I am that you're here, what changed your mind. As far as I know, I was better off dead."

"I don't know. I always knew I had something for you. But I would of been a horrible friend if I even thought about acting on it." I turned around. He had a glass of scotch in his hand and was leaning against the piano.

"It wasn't til I walked in on Tyler and Hayley making out and basically having sex that I realized how stupid I was." I could see his jaw lock up at the mention of Tyler's name.

"It's okay. I didn't care much. Well back then I did, but now it's whatever." I gave him a small smile. He ran his hand through his hair and I subconsciously bit my lower lip.

"Love, that doesn't answer my question. I would go to Washington and give Tyler a sense of my mind but because I know it'll make you mad, I won't."

I crossed my arms and took a seat at one of the sofas. "How do you know that he's in Washington?" He looked at me and smirked again. Right, he probably knew since the beginning.

"Klaus, I tried to find you all these years because I want to be with you. I told my friends about trying to find you and they all abandoned me. Well most Elena and Damon, everyone else is kinda following their lead. Except Rebekah and Stefan. But Klaus.." I stood up and walked over to him. I took his glass and set it down on the table beside us before standing in front of him.

"I'll give you a chance, if your offer still stands." I looked at him and he gave me a smile. A genuine smile. He took my hand and kissed the palms of them.

"Let me show you the world. Let me love you." He said. I couldn't conjure any words to say back, I can only hug him and breath in his smell. I wrapped my arms tighter around his neck and I could feel him hesitate for a second before wrapping his arms around my waist. The hug seemed perfect, like this was where I was suppose to be. I swore I finally found my missing piece. Life was finally turned over a new leaf. The days of heart break were gone and the feeling of emptiness was no more.

I looked up and his face was an inch away from mine. I could feel his breath on my face as I eyed his lips.

"Klaus. I missed you, a lot." Slowly we were coming closer.

"I missed you too. Sweet, sweet Caroline."

Our lips met in the sweetest yet passionate kiss I've ever had. I was finally complete.
