Just a short fic. I was bored, lack of things to do…At least I'm not bored ~

Rain poured silently down from the gray, lifeless sky to spatter on the broken, cobblestoned street. A pair of leaf-green eyes stared hopelessly up at the thunderclouds gathering overhead. Why had this happened to her? She wasn't even involved in the death and carnage the other countries were inflicting. Collapsing, she leaned against a wall, the stones as cold and merciless as the situation she was in. Her eyelids began to droop. She was so tired…Would this be the end of her? No! She had tried so hard! It couldn't just end here, could it? Slowly, her eyelids drooped as sleep crept in on her. Never to awake again.

"AAAHH!" Liechtenstein awoke, screaming and drenched in cold sweat. She clutched at her bedclothes, as if making sure she was still there. The wild pitter-patter of her heart began to slow. "Just a dream, just a dream, it was just a dream," she repeated under her breath. "Onii-sama saved me. He was there for me. He won't abandon me." Even as she said this, an edge of uncertainty crept into her heart. Onii-sama would never abandon her, would he?

Rapid footsteps sounded outside of Liechtenstein's door. A second later, Switzerland burst into the room, half dressed and wielding a gun as he stared wildly about the room. "What's wrong? I heard screaming. Liechtenstein, are you okay?" He crossed the room in three steps and grabbed her by the shoulders, frantically checking her over for injuries.

Liechtenstein sweat-dropped as she reassured the other nation. "I'm fine Onii-sama," she said, smiling at him. "I really am. I'm fine. It was just a nightmare." Switzerland sighed in relief. "Thank God. You had me really worried. I'm glad you're okay." "Mm." Liechtenstein looked down at the bedclothes she still clutched in her hands. Switzerland tilted his head as he noticed her sudden switch in mood. "What's wrong?" Gingerly, he sat down on the bed beside her. "It's okay, you can tell me." Liechtenstein bit her lip, then looked at him with huge pleading eyes. "You won't leave me, will you? I..I don't want Onii-sama to leave me!"

Switzerland blinked at the suddenness of the question. "Uh…I won't leave you?" Confused, he looked at Liechtenstein. "Liechtenstein, what's this about?" Tears leaked out from the corners of the girl's eyes, flowing down her face to drip upon the bed sheets. "I…I dreamed about that day. The day that…that I met Onii-sama. Except..this time, you wasn't there. I just…died. I…I don't want Onii-sama to leave me. I don't want to be a burden to Onii-sama." Switzerland's mouth formed in a soundless 'O'. After a second, he sighed and enveloped her in a hug. Liechtenstein blushed furiously. "O-O-Onii-sama?" His voice sounded next to her ear, sounding a bit embarrassed. "You're not a burden to me, Liechtenstein. I'll never leave you. Never. That's a promise."

Pulling away, he brushed her tears away with his thumb. "So…Don't cry. I'll protect with my life." He blushed furiously as he said this. Liechtenstein's tears started anew, yet this time, they were tears of happiness. "Thank you, Onii-sama." Switzerland nodded acknowledgement. He stood there, watching over her as she slowly fell asleep once more. Her sleeping face was so peaceful, graced by a tiny smile, hair turned silver by the moonlight. Gently, Switzerland brushed her hair with the back of his hand. Leaning forward, he pressed a gently kiss to her cheek. "Sleep well, Liechtenstein. I'll be right here. Watching over you. Forever."
