The Meeting between an Angel and a Demon

The Meeting between an Angel and a Demon

I just own this story, and I don't own Supernatural. I leave that to creator, Eric Kripke.

They met in secret. Away from Lilth, but not away from God because he would already know what his angel is doing. Nothing much gets past him. But God knew that they didn't need something else to worry about.

"So you're Ruby," the man in the trench coat replied.

"And you're Castiel," Ruby replied. "I didn't know God sent his angels to Earth."

"He doesn't," Castiel confirmed, "but well special circumstances usually changes His mind. I would agree with God when He calls Lilth wanting to release Lucifer a special circumstances."

Ruby considered for a moment. "It would," Ruby replied. "You called for this meeting now tell me what you wanted."

"God has asked me the humble favor of thanking you for preparing Sam for what he must do," Castiel told Ruby.

Ruby blinked. "God thanking me?" Ruby asked stunned.

Castiel smiled. "Yes," he replied, "He is."

"I don't need His thanks," Ruby replied and turned away from Castiel.

"He has told me about your background," Castiel continued. "It doesn't surprise God or me, for that matter, that you would say something like that."

"You don't understand any of it," Ruby replied.

"Ruby, you were a woman and a witch who would've done anything for your husband," Castiel replied. "The Lord understands that and has forgiven you for it, but He wonders why you haven't forgiven yourself. The Crossroad Demon promised you ten years with your husband. You got your ten more years and then three children out of that time."

Ruby turned toward Castiel, and he saw tears running down her eyes. "And then I left him thinking I was horribly murdered and three children to raise by himself."

"The lord couldn't do anything for you, but he did something for your children and your husband. You haven't done the genealogy yet, have you, Ruby?" Castiel asked her with a knowing smile.

"What genealogy?" Ruby asked and then turned away again.

"I'm surprised you haven't figured it out yet," Castiel replied.

"I saw it the first time I peered into Dean's eyes," Ruby replied. "It's the same color and the same shape, but not only his eyes, but his face. Then I look at Sam. I don't see any him, but his attitude is the exact replica." Her voice became shaky. "Even without the research, I know they are mine. Are ours. They are mine and my husband's so many great grandchildren." She turned back around and stared into Castiel's borrowed eyes. "But why them?"

"Because God works in mysterious ways," Castiel told Ruby. Castiel left in a blink of an eye and left Ruby there quietly weeping for what was and what may be.
