For Her, Anything
Disclaimer: I do not own any canon characters. They belong to Meg Cabot and Walt Disney Studios. Based on the prompt: "The store ran out of Easter eggs."
Word Count: 200 (double drabble)
Clarisse Renaldi, retired Queen of Genovia merely arches an eyebrow at the scene in front of her. Stacks of newspapers, small bowls of water, dirty paintbrushes, and bottles of paint cover the dining table. Before the matriarch of the Renaldi family can form the question gnawing at her mind, a soft voice offers an explanation.
"The store ran out of Easter eggs," Nicholas Devereaux practically whispers in case someone is listening.
"Ah. I see," Clarisse hums, coming up behind her husband and pressing her gentle hands to Joseph's shoulders. "And you two men have taken up arms to solve the problem?" she smiles, her eyes sparkling as she admires an egg.
"Of course, my darling! Can't have Adela's first real Easter egg hunt end up as a disappointment, can we?" Joe simply says, adding one last polka dot to the egg in his hand.
"Have you told Mia of your change of plans?"
"Heavens, no!" Nicholas nearly shouts. "Between being Queen, spending time with Adela, and preparing for the coming baby, Mia would freak out."
"Are you going to stay up all night to paint eggs?" Clarisse asks.
"For her, anything," the two men answer in sync. "Adela deserves it."
Author's Note: And there it is! My Princess Diaries Easter double drabble is posted! Okay, so I knew I wanted to write an Easter story for this fandom, and then when I was researching popular prompt pages at the end of February, I found out that March is typically referred to as drabble month! Anyway, to make a long story short, I can't write just 100 words; I have to at least have two hundred because I love descriptions! So, this fic was born. I'm thinking of writing a companion piece for this that is longer and talks more about the actual Easter egg hunt with the Renaldi-Devereaux family; stay tuned for that! As always, comments are always greatly appreciated. Enjoy your day, afternoon, or night, dear readers! Until next time.
