Erik Night's POV

I took in a deep breath. This is it.. I could run away or face her. No… I can't just run away, I complained about her being unfaithful yet instead of being the better person I went and blabbed everything to her friends. I ruined everything for her. Now she has no-one. I shook my head before pushing the door open and quietly stepped into her dorm only to see Zoey speaking to her grandmother on the phone. "I'm telling you Grandma I'm fine." She said, pulling her sleeve up over her fingers before dabbing at her tears which had stained her cheeks pink. "Couldn't be better.. A hundred percent I promise you." She continued as she went through the refrigerator, pulling out a bottle of brown pop before sitting down on one of the stools next to the island counter tops, shaking her head as she stared down at the pop. "Yes I'm sure.. Alright… Yeah—Of course, I love you too… Bye.." She said softly before putting down the phone and cupping her face in her hands. "Oh god…" She sniffed. "Well only a couple weeks ago you had not one but three boyfriends," She started, scoffing to herself. "But you fixed that didn't you? I mean today not only do you have zero boyfriends , but no one will want to ever trust you for at least a gazillion years or so. Either way, you managed to screw up just about everyone who has ever touched your life, Congrats… You must be pleased." She hiccupped, clasping a hand over her mouth as she shut her eyes tightly, trying hard not to let herself break into tears.

"Zoey…" I said gently, stuffing my hands into my trouser pockets as I walked up to her. She flinched, snapping up and breathing deeply, automatically rubbing her eyes dry before turning around to face me. "What? What do you want." She asked, frowning as she forced her voice to remain strong and indifferent. "I just wanted to see…" I began. "Jack? Damien? Sorry but they're down at lunch with the twins. You'd have better luck down there." She said, her usual dark chocolate eyes seeming empty and distant as she tried to hold her glare. "Uh why aren't you down with them?" I asked, even though deep down I already knew. "Really? After what happened you're STILL asking me why I'm not down there with them? I'm not down there because I'm not going to stick around some place where I'm clearly not wanted." She said coolly, narrowing her eyes at me as if I was a complete idiot. "I'm actually pretty good at not being wanted." She gulped, biting her bottom lip so hard that a thin line of blood began to appear yet I didn't feel attracted to it, probably because of the situation I was in. "I came to apologise." I explained, furrowing my brow as I looked down at the floor. "Apologise?" She questioned, tilting her head so her thick glossy hair fell in wavy locks to one side. "Yeah… For… Acting the way I did, but on one condition, what is wrong with you and Neferet?" I asked, making her jerk backwards, fiddling around with the hem of her shirt. "I… I can't tell you…" She whispered. "Why? Can't trust me either?" I shot back, suddenly becoming angry for the lack of trust we had for each other.

"No.. It's just you wouldn't be safe if I did. Your safety, everyone's safety is much more important to me than anything. I can't risk putting anyone in danger… She—They have done enough damage to this school as it is. It would not be smart for me to go blabbing to everyone about what I do and do not know." She explained.
