Things never seemed quite right in this universe even with how happy she was.

She felt as if this universe was a far cry from how things were supposed to go, but she could not resist holding on to her Alchemist husband's hands and letting herself relax against him as if those old books on alternate universes meant nothing.

Mei adored Ed though sometimes they could bicker rather strongly though she tried to ignore the twinges of things being far different than they were supposed to be in another universe.

It still felt almost weird to hear of Winry's tales of Automail from Rush Valley and to know that despite everything including how single Winry usually preferred to be, that she had a ring on her finger, announcing to all that she was engaged to Alphonse.

She found her own eyes wandering over to Ed, who looked eager to work on some other project of his though it stung for her as well to know that her husband could not perform Alchemy again.

He started writing down Alchemic circles again, that she listened to, and tried to learn from; his prodigy like abilities were not to be ignored.

She started as always after he'd finished the circle, asked what it was for, longed to listen to his half-muttered explanations that were quite hard to follow at times though she was used to them now; she began like always to work until she achieved his results despite her upbringing into Alkahestry.

Mei thrilled over giving him what little parts of his past that he could hold onto though she ignored that nagging in her gut that told her that they were never supposed to be together in some far off universe, that she was supposed to be someone else's wife and not madly in love with her brilliant Alchemist husband.

She hummed softly at just seeing the bright excitement in his eyes and could not resist leaning closer to her husband and kissing him with all of the feeling in her small body; he held her closer, and suddenly she was reminded of the man that she'd admired long before meeting him, and yet her doubts after meeting him over his own extraordinary aspects.

Mei loved when he kissed her as if he understood her romantic ideals and thrilled over the gentle yet passionate kisses of those moments.

They always made her smile against his lips and allowed her to forget her nearly constant worries of whoever she was far away, because he was her everything here, and any notion of it being any different elsewhere, implied that her alternate self had missed the obvious beauty of the man before her.

She leaned ever closer and was glad to shred the tatters of those thoughts and immerse herself in her love for him as he really had become her everything despite the old fantasies, the shattering of them, and of the parallel universe that sometimes called to her at night, trying to convince her that she was wrong.

Mei loved him more than anything and any parallel love affair meant nothing to her when faced with the true beauty of such a strong and passionate love that always handled its arguments in a way that it needed to be handled.

Her smile only grew at feeling Edward's warm but calloused hands press her closer from her sides and thrilled over the taste of him and how that always reminded her of Amestris and the spark of exoticness and yet tasted like home and joy.

His taste was like a warm embrace to her and was so much more than anyone could list on and on to her; he was the perfect mix of all that she longed for in the past even the things she'd never realized she'd longed for.

Mei leaned closer to Edward Elric and savored the ties that always managed to bind her to her husband in every way and made her so blissfully happy to just be by his side.
