Hey guys. This is my first time venturing into the world of Vampire Diaries and I hope you guys bare with me as I do this. I may make some mistakes though, seeing as how I missed a couple of episodes from the first series. That's why I'm probably not going to make any references to any past episodes. It's much easier that way.

Disclaimer- I own nothing apart from original characters and everyone's actions and emotions.

"Damon, how'd it go?" Elena's voice was still as innocent and sweet as ever despite the fact that she was now a blood sucking demon, albeit blood from furry animals but blood nevertheless. She flinched and shut her eyes when her only response from Damon was the loud slam his bedroom door created. Stefan sighed and patted her thigh in a comforting gesture before he stood up to go and check up on his brother.

Not bothering to use his vampire speed, he stalked up the stairs, down the hallway till he reached Damon's door, where he stood and listened. "You act as if I couldn't here you coming up." The voice sounded stoic and Stefan pushed the door open, sighing again as he spotted Damon sitting on the floor in front of his bed, elbows balancing on his knees. They stood in silence for a while; the only sound they could both hear was Elena moving about downstairs. "I'm losing my patience, Stefan." His voice sounded broken and he avoided all eye contact. "She still doesn't completely remember me!"

"It's gonna happen. Give it some time-."

"It's been FIVE FUCKING YEARS! I've tried everything and I always get the same result. My own wife doesn't fucking remember anything that's happened between us!" Damon was now standing, fists clenching and unclenching by his sides.

"Damon, Elena and I are doing all that we can to try and find a way to undo that spell. We're going to find it and she's going to remember everything. Just... be patient." When he reached out to place a hand on Damon's shoulder, Damon had already sped towards the door.

"I need a drink." Was his only statement before he left the house. Once Stefan had descended the stairs, he was met with Elena's concerned brown eyes. She'd heard their conversation. It was the same thing every night. Damon would come home angry, yell at someone then leave to go to the Mystic Grill, where he wouldn't come home until the early hours of the night.

"He'll be alright." He pulled her towards him, holding her close and trying to convince himself of his own statement.

-.-

"The usual?" The barman asked as Damon slumped into a stool at the bar, nodding. He honestly didn't know how much longer he could last with this. It pained him and hurt him deeply whenever he looked into Bonnie's eyes now. She didn't hold that same look she used to. That look that let him know just how much she loved him. Now that she didn't recognize him like she used to, that look was nothing but a sweet memory.

His days had been the same for the last five years. He'd go visit Bonnie in the ward that they kept her, tell her stories, show her pictures and do things that he hoped would help her remember him. She'd accept the fact that they were in fact together but she just couldn't actually remember anything herself. She just believed what everyone was feeding her. Each day he'd get closer and she would begin to warm up to him, almost remembering, then as if someone got a needle and popped Damon's hopeful balloon, she'd forget him again, screaming and asking who the hell he was. Then he'd have to go and try again to work up to the stage where she warmed up to him and slightly remembered. Elena and Stefan had worked out that that was a part of the spell that had been cast.

At the moment they'd already figured out that the spell had consisted of Bonnie not having any memories of anything to do with Damon. Every single one of Bonnie's memories of Damon had been removed. 30 years of memories gone. However, they also knew that there was still a chance of Bonnie getting them back. Something had to trigger it. What exactly, they're not sure. The witch they'd got the information from went missing a few hours after their visit.

"Give me another." He slid the now empty glass back to the bartender, watching as he rolled his eyes but did as he was told. This was all her mother's fault. Damon swore that the next time he'd see her; he'd rip out her heart and keep it as a souvenir on his bedside table. If it wasn't for her, Bonnie would still remember him. Her bitch of a mother showed up right after the gang had fought off an evil warlock – just another day in Mystic Falls – and demanded that Bonnie leave him, claiming that Damon was poisoning her mind. Bonnie had refused and Brenda had took matters into her own hands, placing her hands on her daughter's head, quite violently actually, and ridding her of any memories she had of Damon. She'd passed out and they took her home, not exactly sure what the consequences of what Brenda Bennett had done were.

When Bonnie had woken up, she screamed so loud that Elena and Stefan both came charging into the room wondering what was going on.

Damon would never forget the look of pure confusion that resided on Bonnie's face aimed directly for him after she woke up with his arms wrapped tightly around her. They'd quickly travelled the distance to Lucy Bennett's house and asked her what the hell was going on. She'd explained everything to the group that Brenda had done and told them to put Bonnie in a ward for Alzheimer's, reasoning still not fully understood.

Damon grimaced at the burning sensation down his throat. Tomorrow he'd have to go back there and try his hardest to get her to remember. At the beginning of this ordeal he told himself that his Bonnie would remember everything that they had shared. She'd get that same look back into her eyes. He'd make her. If it was the last thing he did, but now, he was running out of patience and he truly believed this was how life was going to be for them.

Whether he was emotionally prepared for that, he wasn't sure.

"Lena, when did you say Caro was coming back from France?" Bonnie questioned, playing with her hair and looking horrified as she spotted a few greys. One thing magic couldn't fix. Grey hairs. Elena stopped flipping through her magazine and was about to answer when there was a knock on the door. They both looked up and found Damon standing there, smirking knowingly at Bonnie.

"Few greys got you a bit paranoid?" Bonnie rolled her eyes playfully and got up just as Elena did. "Don't let the door hit you on your way out, 'Lena'." He flashed a smile as she hugged Bonnie goodbye and left.

"Salvatore, right? I'd ask what brings you here but judging by the photo album you're carrying, we're going to have a repeat of yesterday." She stated dryly, returning to her bed and sitting down with ease. Damon didn't let her first question faze him even though it tore at him inside.

"Oh come on, Bon Bon, like you don't enjoy it!" she reached up to push her hair to the side and he narrowed his eye at how her ring wasn't on her finger. Before the spell, she wore that thing everywhere. He should've been used to it by now seeing as Brenda slid it off her finger when she performed the spell but again, it still hurt.

"I would enjoy it if I could remember it." She sighed as he jumped on the bed next to her and flipped onto a page of the album, chuckling at it before pointing. Bonnie's eyebrows furrowed together at the picture.

"Is that... That picture looks like it was taken in a hospital."

That was just basically a set up to tell you where the string of oneshots will come in. The next chapters are just one shots of Bonnie and Damon's relationship. Random moments I guess. Some rating M, some rating T and some maybe K. If you have any suggestions or any questions, don't hesitate to PM me.
