The Sound of Rain

I was sitting in front of my room window. I was watching the rain fall to the ground and slam against the window. The rain was falling down hard right now, really hard. I could hear thunder, I could see lightning. The trees that blocked my view from the mountains shook violently because of the raging wind. I sigh and I sometimes can hear his voice in the wind.

He left a long time ago, but I think he's still watching over me. When he left he told me that he would never leave me. How is that possible? How can he leave me and not leave me at the same time? I don't get it. He never told me how that was possible.

When he left I wasn't heartbroken, no. Would you like to know why? Well…I know that he will always love me and I will always love him. I know that he would never run off with someone else. I know he would come back someday. And I was waiting for that someday. I hope that someday was today.

I sigh again but this time I could not hear his voice. Did the wind slow down a bit? Did the rain stop? There was only one way to find out. I stare harder out the window and see that the trees have stopped moving. The rain was still going though. Now, I could only hear the sound of rain. It reminded me of him.

Jin Kazama is his name and he was the only one who caught my attention. I guess I caught his too because we are both in love with each other. He never told me what he liked about me nor did I tell him what I liked about him. I feel kind of sad because of that. Now he's not here and I can't tell him.

I step away from the window and take a seat on my bed. I could still hear the sound of rain. I take a notebook off of my desk and open it. There were lyrics to a song I've been writing. No, I didn't have any music to go with it. I didn't need any because the music was all in me. Don't you think that way sometimes? Now, I am going to read these lyrics…I mean sing.

You were gone, when I went searching for you.

You were gone, when I went looking for you.

You were gone, when I went to get you.

You were gone, you were just gone.

I knew that day would come, the day that you would leave me.

That day…I knew…

But am I crying?

No I'm not; I'm staying strong for you.

Only for you, my sweet.

You left that day, the day when the clouds came.

You left that day, the day when the rain came down.

You left that day, the day when the rain rushed over me.

You left that day, the day when the…

I stopped singing because the rain got even stronger outside and the wind started back up again. I dropped my notebook beside me on the bed and got up. I looked out of the window and saw that the trees were moving even faster than before. They looked as if they would rip off of the ground at any second. I wonder how long my little cabin would hold against the wind. I live in a forest after all, I love forests.

I was just about to grab my things and leave the cabin when I heard a knock on my door. Goodness me, who could that be? I run out of my room and open the front door.

When I saw who it was at the door…I couldn't believe my eyes.

Today…was that day.
