Sake
By SMYGO4EVA
The Dimensional Witch stared into the cup as she swirled the thin clear liquid round and round with her finger. It looked so clear, just how everything was supposed to be. Yet they still seemed uncertain, as is of the future. The sound of her long fingernail scratching the bottom of the cup was so very like the nails of tortured souls reaching, simply reaching for their salvation.
She continued stirring with her finger, her crimson orbs staring listlessly into the liquid that she thirsted for so much. Clear ripples marked every surface they touched, much like human connections and fates so cruel, yet so kind. The witch sighed: how strange it was that the simplest of things like a cup of the finest sake could trigger those kinds of thoughts in her mind.
She loved drinking sake or rice wine if you will, because it was sweet yet acidic, such was the balancing act of existence; of good and bad, sweet and bitter, happy and sad, and life and death. Nothing in between, as her fate was to be until her time ran out in this world. Until then, she would drink the finest of sake to her heart's content. Yuuko loved sake, rice wine if you will, because it helped her forget.
