A/N: This is my first X-Men fanfic and also my first "angsty" fiction so if you're looking for the hardcore "weep-and-wallow" stuff, then sorry, you have to look somewhere else. And yes, before you ask, this is loosely based on the brilliantly done film, 'X-Men: First Class', not on any other X-Men movie. I do not own X-Men…sadly. :(

This chapter is just little taste of a story that I hope to continue with if I get the time and energy. So use your imagination to figure out what's going on so far. I hope you enjoy reading it. :D

Raven would never admit it.

Raven would never admit seeing it happen.

You could have poked, probed, or even held a gun to her head (though she probably would've knocked it out of your hand before you got the chance), but she still wouldn't tell you what happened.

Raven is not the type of person to delude herself from anything; being a naturally blue-skinned shape-shifter in a world where the mere mention of the word 'mutant' brings so much hatred and disgust from the general public, Raven sees no point in pretending that the world is all hunky-dory and kind when it's not.

Even when she was a little girl being chased down by a group of boys who were throwing heavy rocks at her and screaming "Get her! Get her!", "She's one of those freaks!", "Ugly bitch!", "Five bucks for whoever can hit her on the head first!", Raven knew things were not going to get better for her.

She was always prepared to face the worst, or as she would say, the reality of life.

This however…what she heard… what she saw…

She didn't want to face it and she tells herself repeatedly that it didn't happen, it didn't happen, it didn't happen…

Maybe I saw it wrong…Maybe I'm just being crazy…

She tries to convince herself but fails.

The images in her head are too vivid, too strong, too clear for her forget.

But one thing Raven is sure of, one thing that she doesn't even attempt to get out of her mind or convince herself otherwise, are Erik's words.

"Raven, wait! I wasn't—it's not w-w-what it looks like! Wait! RAVEN!"
