N ran the brush through Touko's hair over and over.
She sat on a regal chair, in front of a mirror; azure eyes downcast.
The soft bristles of the wooden brush combed through her thick brunette locks with ease.
He stood directly behind her, focused on his task.
Her hair was free of knots and tangles, yet N still repeated the motion. He laid the object down to rest on the vanity.
Emerald eyes looked at the reflection of his beloved in the mirror. His eyes sparkled with love and his chest swelled with emotions every time he gazed upon her. N was absolutely enamored with the girl.
Seeing the two of them, and only them, reflected assured him that they would be together.
Just the two of them.
Touko felt arms embrace her, N placed his head on her shoulder and leaned into her. His presence around her was so light, she could barely notice it, but she could never ignore it.
Touko would constantly know he was there.
It would always just be the two of them. This was the way things were now.
She had accepted that. She understood that this was the only way. She was content.
Looking at the green haired man would always cause Touko grief, he was to blame for the drastic change in her life. Yet the sadness that loomed in her heart was just that, she could never hate him.
Touko shifted and stood up from the chair. The loose fabric of the white summer nightgown she wore fluttered with her slightest movement. N stood himself and gazed down at her curiously.
"Yes, my Queen?"
She grasped N's hand within her own delicate fingers, and lead him towards the open doors of the veranda. The whispered night breeze circles around them, bright stars shone above them, and the land of Unova was still and silent for as far as they could see.
"Will you always stay with me?" her steady voice murmured.
"If you will always be by my side." he answered in the same hushed voice.
With the vast world displayed out in front of her, Touko knew she didn't want to go back to that life.
"Always."
