Ok so this is a short story giving some insight into how Alex met her fiancé. It will lead into a sequel to Erin's Daughter soon but since I got some lovely reviews for the last chapter of that I decided to update this a little earlier than planned :-) No Copyright Intended! Hope you enjoy :-)

Alex's Point of View

As I sat on the plane home to Chicago with my fiancé beside me I began to doze off. I slowly drifted into a dream, a dream that had come true.

It was my first night in New York and Amanda had taken me to a bar to meet some new people who weren't cops.

At first it was just Amanda and myself. That was until some of Amanda's friends arrived. They happily chatted away and made me feel very welcome. However there was a handsome man who had been watching us for a while.

"I'm going to get a drink." I whispered to Amanda as I got up and left the booth.

I slowly made my way to the bar where the stranger did exactly what I hoped he would. He approached me.

"Can I get that?" He said as he flashed me a smile.

"Can I get a name first?" I replied.

"Chase. And you are?" Chase smirked.

"Buy me the drink and you get the name." I laughed.

Chase laughed and handed over the cash. He was incredibly charming with his fair hair and blue eyes.

"Ok so your name?" He asked as we sat down together.

"Alex." I replied.

"Ok Alex so what are you doing here?" Chase asked.

"Getting used to my new city." I told him.

"Your new in town? Can I ask why New York?" Chase smiled.

"Change of scenery I guess and New York because I was offered a job." I explained.

"What's your job?" Chase replied.

"Oh I think it's your turn first. Tell me about you?" I asked.

"Ok seems fair. Names Chase Edward Peters. I am 25 and I am a fire fighter." Chase told me.

"Oh and I am single." He added with a smirk.

"Ok Chase Edward Peters that's a very cliffnotes version." I laughed.

"I know but your more interesting. So come on give me something." Chase said as he pretended to beg.

"Fine. Alexis Halstead and I am almost 20." I replied.

"So I bought a minor a drink?" Chase gasped.

"Don't worry I didn't actual buy alcohol. It um doesn't agree with me…." I trailed off.

"Party girl?" Chase questioned.

"Something like that….." I mumbled.

"Hey it's ok I was the same." Chase assured me.

"So when is your birthday?" Chase asked.

"Friday why?" I replied.

"So 3 days time? How about I take you out for a meal and you can tell me all about party Alex who I am sure I would have liked but I prefer this version." Chase smiled.

"Ok sounds like a plan." I grinned.

We exchanged numbers and the rest you can say is history.

We really hit things off and got pretty serious pretty fast. I did tell my mom about him but I left out some details. I didn't want her worrying and now that I was pregnant I wanted to make sure I told her in person.

So as I jumped awake just before landing I was relieved when Chase put his hand on my arm to settle me.

"You ready for this?" He whispered.

"Are you?" I smirked.

"I would do anything for you Alex. So if that means facing your cop family then yeah I say bring it on!" Chase replied.

"I love you to and that means a lot. Did you hear from the firehouse yet?" I asked.

"Did I not tell you? They called when you were in the bathroom at the airport. I am in firehouse 51 providing I pass their test." Chase replied.

"You will and you will love it there the guys are all really nice." I replied.

We landed back in Chicago at that, grabbed a cab and went straight to moms new house to surprise her and Jay….

The End
