It's been years since I originally left. It wasn't hard, really. I just walked out. After a fellow child escaped, I had no resistance when I made my way outside. I caught a glimpse of him as I left, and once I was far enough away, I made a vow to myself.

Never would I use this gift how he did. Never would I let myself harm someone so casually. They may have been gained through harm, but they won't be used for it. If the action harms no one, fine. Otherwise, it's off limits. Those guards had lives, those scientists had children. Who am I to play god and decide if they get to continue their journey on this planet? No, I won't be that person.

That night, I kindly asked a man to bring me to the airport. After asking around, I found the wealthiest man in the room and asked him where he was headed.

"New York," he responded, looking away to finish buying the ticket for his newfound daughter.

"New York…" I repeated, a smile settling down on my face. I'm really leaving… I'm truly free…

But what would life be if everything worked out? What story would there be to tell? Oh no, dear reader, don't worry. The pages you're about to read will be sure to entrap you, the same way Kilgrave entrapped me.

And just like me, you have no idea what will happen next.

A/N: This is a prologue to a story I'm writing. Updates will be posted twice a week once the story has been finished, or at least is at a far enough point I feel I can keep going with it even after it's been a while since I've written. I hope you enjoy the upcoming tale…

I know I will.
