Stella bit her lip as her eyes started into the glass outside Tiffany's. A doughnut in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other, Stella had finally forced herself out of the lab where the team was working to find Mac. Stella took a sip of her coffee and a small bite of her doughnut before her eyes tore from one of the expensive bracelets and settled on a silver necklace nestled on light blue cloth.

Tiffany's was always some place she came to get away, to see the finer things in life besides dumpsters and the crime lab. She loved the little blue boxes and though she only had one for her own, she enjoyed staring at the crystal clear presence of the ones on display in the window. To complete the Tiffany's circle, she owned the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and also her favorite song was called, Breakfast at Tiffany's. It was the song she got up to every morning when her alarm went off and her CD started playing.

Stella stepped back from the display window and knocked into someone. Flustered, she turned around to apologize to see Hawkes standing there, looking concerned.

"How did you know to come here?" Stella asked turning to her friend who just smiled.

"Flack said something about you liking 'little blue boxes.' I figured it was here." Hawkes said as he stood next to her to stare into the display window. The silence between the two friends grew and Hawkes looked over at her and frowned.

"You know we're going to find him. It's just a matter of time before we do." Hawkes said and Stella nodded, taking a big bite of her doughnut.

"He always gets himself into these messes and it drives me insane." Stella mumbled before swallowing the bite she had taken. She shook her head, "If I was there, I would have told him to keep his ass outside the bank and not take a step closer to that bank. I would have someone else go in. He's been through enough." Stella paused, "He's put himself through enough."

"He acted on instinct, Stella, and he saved lives doing that." Hawkes commented as he looked at Stella who shrugged, "Why are you here anyway?" he asked.

It was Stella's turn to look at him, "I love these little blue boxes. And to be honest, I can think when I'm staring at these." She said as she finished off her doughnut and took a sip of her coffee.

"So, what are you thinking?" Hawkes asked.

"I'm thinking about Mac and everything that has been going on in the past year. Peyton, the 333 stalker, the cabbie killer…" she paused and frowned, "The last thing he needed to do was to jump into a hostage situation without consulting anyone."

"He consulted Flack."

"That's not the point." Stella said looking at Hawkes.

"Then what is the point?" Hawkes asked and Stella sighed and didn't answer immediately.

"I don't know." she said crumbling up the paper wrapper in her fist as she stepped back from the window and walked toward a garbage can and threw it out.

A phone rang between the two of them and Hawkes pulled out his and looked up at Stella, "They have a possible lead for where Mac may be."

Stella nodded, "Alright," she said finishing off her coffee and throwing it out, "I'm right behind you."

Breakfast at Tiffany's had never been so rewarding.
