"Alphonse, I'm glad you could make it," Riza Hawkeye smiled warmly as she opened the door of her apartment to the boy.
Alphonse Elric grinned at the Lieutenant as he walked in. "Thank you for inviting me Lieutenant Hawkeye."
"Please, call me Riza. We're not working today."
"Ah, alright Riza," Al blushed.
Riza smiled again as she closed the door. She turned and headed for the kitchen, gesturing for Al to follow. "It's all in here.
When they reached the room, Al stopped beside the blond woman and surveyed the counter. There were bags of flour, eggs, sugar and other baking necessities covering the surface, along with three large pumpkins. Al looked up at Riza and questioned, "This is all for the party?"
Riza nodded, "We'll be making pumpkin cookies. My mother taught me when I was a child, and I've made them every fall since. I usually don't make this many, but since your brother will be there, I thought it better to be safe."
Al chuckled and nodded. "Good idea."
"Alright, so, shall we get started?"
"Sure. Just tell me what to do."
"Okay, first we'll start by mixing the dry ingredients. I've got a couple measuring cups out, and we'll mix them in the white bowl. Then we'll move on to the pumpkins. I hope you don't mind, but it will get messy."
"It's fine. I used to help out when my mom made pumpkin pie. Brother and I used to get covered," the alchemist laughed.
"That's good. And I know this would be easier with alchemy, but do you mind if we did this the old fashioned way?" Riza asked, eying the boy.
Shaking his head, Al responded, "Nope. It's more fun like this anyway."
"Glad we got that settled. Let's begin. We need to have these all ready for the party tonight."
"Okay!"
Pumpkin cookies are my favorite fall food. They're just amazing. If you haven't tried them before, now's a good time to do so. They're easy to make (and easier to eat). There're a couple good recipes online, but if you want the one I use, just pm me and I'll send it to you!
