The Burial of Severus Snape
Chapter 1
Merely hours after the great battle of Hogwarts, all the dead were to be buried.
Completely hidden under his invisibility cloak, Harry Potter, went undetected to the Whomping Willow to retrieve the dead body of Severus Snape. As Harry crawled threw the constricting tunnel, he soon found his old potions master pale and motionless in the ocean of red blood. Although Harry had really never liked the man, he now felt closer to him as if he were a father. Harry found himself kneeling beside the man; piercing tears filled his eyes and leaking down his own pale cheeks. Each tear that fell off his face made a small ripple in the pool of blood. It might have been minuets, or even hours before he realized what had to be done. The first step was to transport his old professor to the castle. But before he could start a train of thought, he saw a light out of the corner of his bright green eye.
"Noxin" whispered the voice. It sounded as if the voice belonged to a female.
The voice and the light belonged both to Ginny Weasley. Her face was badly scratched and multiple places on her arms were bleeding. Her light brown eyes glanced into the green, and stared blankly into his black eyes. She to began to cry. At this time Harry tried to master himself. He wiped the tears quickly from his face and stood up to comfort Ginny. But as he embraced her, he realized that she was comforting him, and he leaked another tear that stung his face equally as the others.
"Come, let's get him to the Great Hall" she whispered in his cold, tender ear. Harry couldn't find his voice. The most he could do, was nod in agreement. The two combined spells levitated the dead man, and guided him once again through the passageway. Harry felt the fresh new air sweep over him. He inhaled and exhaled deeply.
He walked next to Ginny and put his arm around her petite waste. Soon, the couple saw all those who were dead lined up in the Great Hall, just before the stairs. Lord Voldemort and his followers were on one side of the hall. His red slit eyes still open, staring into nothingness. And there on the other side was where a handful of bodies lay, the Order. Harry now realized that Severus was a brave and loyal member. Then, without hesitation Harry placed Severus in between Lupin and Fred. Severus's eyes were still open.
' He should be put at peace,' thought Harry. He wanted to close his eyes with his own hand, but couldn't find the strength.
His arm still around Ginny's waist, he felt her shaking uncontrollably. He embraced her from behind. She turned to face him, her freckled face shinning with tears. They stood there together, looking at all those who had died fighting. Both Harry and Ginny were shaking now. Harry led Ginny out to the black lake and they both sat hand in hand under the large palm tree.
"I want to bury Severus," started Harry, "I think I know where as well, he deserves to be buried somewhere special."
Harry said all this in a rush so that Ginny couldn't interrupt. Ginny opened her mouth to talk, but then closed it. Her eye brows furrowed in deep thought. After few moments, Ginny's face seemed to relax. She turned to Harry, not meeting his eyes. Harry lifted her chin and saw two eyes filled with tears, compassion and understanding.
"Where did you have in mind?" she asked. Harry looked at her and couldn't help but to smile.
