"Will you go out with me?"
The words left his mouth before he could think. His mouth snapped shut as the object of his attention turned towards him. Her eyes were wide as she studied him.
"Are you insane!?"
Her bright blue eyes narrowed as she glared at him. He felt himself shrinking away from the icy daggers the look sent. Maybe not the wisest move ever.
"You know I don't want to date anyone ever!"
She'd started advancing toward him now. A small smile crept over his face as he watched the wind whip hair into her eyes. She' changed so much since he'd first seen her. An old and biter anger stirred within him at the thought. He'd found her by a lake so far from civilisation that he'd never expected to see another living soul. It was his hide out, his retreat from the world. She'd been crouched on the ground on the ground soaking wet and freezing. He'd slowly moved close enough that he could see the tears streaming down her face and the bruises that turned her usually fair skin dark. When he'd put his hand on her shoulder, she'd jumped a mile high looked at him with such a mix of fear and defiance that he'd had to admire her courage. For no-one should ever look as terrified as she did then but he'd known she wouldn't go down without a fight.
It had taken months for him tho earn her trust, but he'd managed it. He smiled again watching a flush of fury rise on her flawless cheeks. It was nice to watch the fire in her eyes as she yelled at him, they'd been suspicious for far too long.
She swiped hair out of her face and glared up at him.
"Were you listening to me!?"
Anger and hurt warred within her and she fuelled the anger to keep the hurt at bay. She couldn't go there again there was only darkness and move hurt waiting. She thought he'd understood. She needed him to understand.
"How could you..."
She froze. He'd grabbed her arms. Flashbacks and fear raced through her. The lying faces, which had fooled her once. All the pain, all the fear, the emptiness came rushing back to her. She looked into his eyes and desperation replaced everything else. He'd helped her, he knew. She knew he was strong she'd seen him fight but he wouldn't hurt her, he couldn't hurt her. She'd trusted him. Panic blurred he thoughts until the only thing that remained was the trust – He wouldn't hurt her.
He pulled her slowly closer and kissed her.
His lips were soft and gentle so different from the others. Slowly the fear ebbed. His lips were so warm; the warmth consumed her, filled her and made her whole. It was like nothing that had ever happened before. It was good, it was right.
It was perfection.
He smiled when her body softened against his. Elation filled him when she hesitantly kissed him back. He leaned back and gazed into her eyes.
"Will you go out with me?"
A cheeky grin lit her face.
"I'll think about it."
