ENJOY! or not whatever
"You may now kiss the brideā¦"
They came together in a flurry of confetti and cheers. But none of that mattered, only them, Mr and Mrs Wallace West.
They parted, grinning at each other. Behind them M'gann was dabbing her eyes with a tissue whilst handing one to a sobbing Zatanna. On Artemis's side there was her mother, tears streaming down her face. Next to her was her big sister, muttering furiously to Roy who was probably making a point about the tears in her eyes. In between them stood Lian in her bright, white flower girl dress; smiling and waving at her Aunt Arty. Ollie and Dinah were there of course, clapping loudly. At the back she noticed her dad, he smiled and nodded at her and she did the same.
At least he came.
On Wally's side was his mother was clutching his dad smiling with tears streaming down her face, his Uncle Barry stood next to them with Don in his arms, and his Aunt Iris next to them holding Dawn. Behind them, Jay and Joan stood smiling and waving, with Bart in the middle. His cousin was smiling, and was that tears? Poor kid, Wally was so going to tease him for that!
Wally took Artemis's hand and led her down the aisle, Zatanna and M'gann followed, with Dick, his best man, and Kaldur and Conner, muttering to each other, following in suit. Artemis remembered dress shopping with Zatanna, M'gann, Cassie and Dinah, they had wanted her to wear the biggest, fluffiest dress in the shop, but she opted for the simpler, more elegant satin number.
Something old: They had whittled down one of her old arrows and it was holding her hair up in a bun.
Something new: The dress.
Something borrowed: Zatanna's shoes.
Something blue: A simple blue chain, clasped around her neck.
They came out into the warm air and looked at each other.
"This is it," he grinned.
"Our life together," She finished.
"Forever," he murmured, and kissed her again.
She woke up with a jolt, surrounded by socks, alone. Then she remembered, in her hand she held a little black, velvet box she'd found when going through his things.
"Forever," Artemis mumbled.
