Alice sat up in bed; she sniffed and glanced towards the window with a smile. It was a clear night and the waning moon illuminated the lawn in front of their house. Grinning she turned to Frank.
"Wake up! Wake up Frank." She whispered gently nudging his shoulder as she made her way out of bed. He groaned and pulled the pillow closer to his face. Alice shook her head and grabbed her pillow from where she had been lying. "Franklin Neville Longbottom, you get out of bed this instant." She hissed holding the pillow up preparing to hit him. Frank rolled over in bed and reached out for her trying to pull her back into bed.
"Al, I'm sleeping, can't it wait until morning?" He asked groggily. Rolling her eyes Alice leaned down and gently kissed his cheek.
"No, no it cannot. It's going to snow Frank, we have to get ready." She said in a serious tone.
"Get ready for what Al?" He asked slightly more awake, but still groggily.
"The snow, Frank, the snow" She sounded excited and Frank opened an eye to look over at her, he smiled to himself. "It is going to snow soon and we need to be outside and ready for it."
"Crazy girl, come here and go back to sleep with me. " He held out his arm reaching for her. Smiling mischievously Alice wrapped his hand in hers and pulled him out of bed. He landed on the floor with a thud and groaned.
"I'm sorry; did I forget to mention that this really wasn't an option?" She pulled Frank up so that he was standing next to her. "Let's get dressed; it's going to get pretty cold out there tonight." She nodded and pulled Frank behind her towards the closet to pull out clothes; she tossed a sweater and some trousers towards Frank and smiled at him. "Come on, get dressed." She pulled out some clothes for herself and pulled them on over her tank top and shorts.
Frank walked over to the window and looked out. "Alice, what are you talking about? There is no snow." He turned to look at her in disbelief. "There is no snow Al. You woke me up and there is no snow." Alice rolled her eyes and walked over to where he was standing.
"Not yet love, not yet." She smiled and took his hand in hers, and pulled him out the front door and into the lawn.
They sat out in the yard shivering in one another's arms. "Al, I don't think anything is going to happen." Frank whispered into her ear softly after a few minutes. She was still gazing up at the sky and was biting her lip nervously. Suddenly her face broke into a grin and she pointed towards the sky. "Look!" Frank looked up where she was pointing and sure enough there was a snow flake falling slowly from the sky and reflecting the light from the moon. He leaned down and kissed her cheek and they sat in the grass of the lawn watching the snowflakes fall from the sky.
