Keeper of the Canes

"...........just a little ditto to pass the time. Abby/Spencey pairing. Head over to my profile pic to see a pic of Reid's cane. And please take my poll!!! Please R&R!"

"And what's wrong with that one?!" Abby asked.

"I don't know. It just doesn't feel right." Reid mumbled. Abby laughed and rolled her eyes. Reid had finally gotten off his crutches, but he still needed a cane for support. Abby had agreed to tag along cane shopping with him. She just never thought it would be this difficult.

"Oh! Take this one! It reminds of Dr. House's cane." Abby giggled as she showed Reid a cane with flames on the side.

"That's it- I am canceling TiVo." Reid joked. Abby put down the cane, and gave Reid a kiss on his cheek.

"Come on! The store's called 'Keeper of the Canes'! It has racks and racks of awesome walking sticks! There has to something! Hmm......how about this one!" she said. Reid's eyebrows arched as he was shown a cane with 'Team Edward' written all over it.

"Wow, Twilight cane?" he laughed. Abby laughed, and helped Reid wobble to the next rack. Abby mumbled her comments about each cane she picked up as Reid looked at a new rack of canes.

That was when he saw the cane he had been searching for. He tuned Abby out as he smiled at the cane. Abby walked over to Reid happily, and put her arm around his shoulder. "Spencer, I think we found your cane.'' Reid smiled at Abby, who walked over to the cane to pick it up.

"Excuse me sir, but how much is this cane?" she asked. The young man walking with a rich ,red cane with gold trim and a fitted vest with a pocket watch on a golden chain limped over to the costumers.

"A fine choice, loves." he said in an Irish accent. "That cane came from Ireland. A fine old man recently passed away. His son was in the army, and his wife lived in the state. The son didn't want it, so the wife sold it to us. Real mahogany wood, top of the line design. It really is worth a lot of money, but the elder man left specific instructions. He wanted us to sell the cane for no more than 10 dollars. It's your lucky day, mate." he smiled. Reid leaned against Abby for support as she smiled at the man.

"We'll take it!" The young man nodded, and walked to the register. When they purchased the cane, Reid sat the tip of it against the floor, and started to walk out the door.

"Take care loves!" Abby yelled a 'you too' back, and smiled as her boyfriend walked with semi-less pain than he was before.

"Like the cane?" she asked.

"Very much." Reid answered. As Reid and Abby walked down the busy Washington sidewalks, hand-in-hand, Reid walked with his new cane by the eagle-tipped handle, happy the pressure had been removed from his already soar leg.

"You know, that is one sexy cane, Dr. Reid." Abby teased. Reid laughed, and lightly kissed her lips.

"So you don't mind having a boyfriend who walks with a cane?" Reid asked, only half-jokingly.

"Uh-huh. In fact, I think I'm going to enjoy it just a little too much." Reid only rolled his eyes in response.

"So let's talk cane names. You know, you can't have a cane without giving it a proper name........."

".......hehe.....................hope you enjoyed this! And an you guess who the son was? Please R&R!"
