"You sure about this?" Rose wasn't sure sneaking into the slave quarters in King Houlooui's Palace was such a great idea after all.
"Rose, this was your idea." The Doctor turned around to face her, then turned back to getting open the secret doors of the palace.
"Yeah, but, I was thinking more... actually I just wasn't thinking." The Doctor could feel her heart beating as she prepared to free the illegally captured slaves. His own hearts were beating fast, but for a completely different reason. Maybe he ought to tell her the palace hadn't been in use for 1000 years. The lock clicked open.
"There. You ready"
"No." Rose was grinning as she said this. The Doctor returned with one of his trademark grins. They entered the eeirily quiet slave quarters. Rose noticed the thick layer of dust.
"Doctor, there's no one here." She entered one of the rooms on the right. It was highly furnished, with a grand double bed at the back. She turned to leave the room, but the Doctor blocked her way. The look on his face was unlike anything Rose had seen in him before. As he slowly walked in and shut the door behind him, Rose's heart started beating even faster, and she felt herself turning hot. "Doctor, what are you doing? This isn't a slave quarters bedroom, is it? Where are we?" The Doctor wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. "Doctor, what's-"
"Shhhh..." He gently soothed her, stroking her hair.
It's about time, Rose thought as she looked up at the Doctor's face. He gave her a boyish grin, before sweeping her up in his arms. He held her close, and Rose could feel his hearts beating.
"Not the most romantic spot, is it? I mean, there's a layer of dust everywhere"
"Actually..." He carried her over to the bed, snuffling his face into Rose's hair. "It's very romantic..." He placed her on the bed, before crossing the room to the curtains, and pulling them open in a dramatic swoop. The suns were rising over the ocean, which was constantly shimmering in a whole spectrum of colours. Rose hadn't noticed before, but the palace was built on the bayside, with a beach of the most pure sand she had ever seen. She was mesmerised, and hadn't noticed the Doctor coming back to her side. He climed onto the bed next to her and put his arm around her.
"Doctor... It's beautiful"
"Just like you." Rose looked at him, and he stroked her hair gently.
"If my mum knew about this... how old were you again"
"900." He laughed.
"So here we are, cuddling on a bed, the 900 year old timelord and the 19 year old girl from the Powell Estate. Gosh, that's so wrong"
"Hmm... yeah... wrong"
"Doctor, are you even listening"
"Sorry, did you say something?" They both laughed and Rose snuggled closer to the Doctor.
The Doctor leant over Rose, and kissed her nose.
"Oi, you missed." Rose pulled the Doctor into a warm kiss. She giggled. "What now, Timelord?"
