So, this was an idea I had for awhile. This is set in my series of stories but is good enough to be the pilot of another series of stories, or at least get out the idea of Numbuh 3 returning to the role of the Grim Reaper. Either way, read and enjoy.
She doesn't remember the world she once knew. He doesn't recall the vile villains he once fought. She looks to her rainbow monkeys in wonder. He looks to his still pool with curiosity. She doesn't remember almost being devoured by sharks. He doesn't remember finding Rome in a couch.
She looks to her half eaten stuffed animal, Mr. Mopsey, with a variety of questions to ask. He questionably looks to an old flier for Madame Margret's Boarding School for Girls. She has no memory of the incident that left her sister grounded. He has no idea why his brother looks up to him.
They both look up to the night sky never once recalling a time when they looked back down amongst the stars. They both don't remember their childhood. They both don't remember what they did in Elementary School. Neither of them can remember a certain bald individual.
They see each other in the hallways. They rarely speak to one another in class. She can't help but notice him inspecting his chicken nuggets in the cafeteria. He can't help but notice her prized Rainbow Monkey keychain. Neither of them could put their finger on it, but they knew each other from somewhere. They never approached one another about this feeling.
In school, he was an 'A' student, a model student. She always missed the 'A' line but never made a big deal over it, her mind preoccupied over the latest trending gossip. He couldn't tell why, but he hated Rainbow Monkeys. She couldn't tell why, but for some reason she thought he was good at sports for a nerd. They were different from one another at best.
One night, they both looked up to the darkening sky up to they assumed to be purple clouds. He looked away from his laptop. She looked away from her phone. Two objects pierced through the heavens above. One landed in his pool. Another landed in her backyard.
They both rushed outside, both feeling an unfamiliar thrill. He walked out to his pool, finding a set of armor of alien design emerging out of the water. She walked put to her backyard, finding a scythe hovering over the ground.
"Step forth." An unfamiliar voice called out to them both.
"Kuki Sanban." A feminine voice emitted from the scythe. "The time has come."
"Wallabee Beetles." A masculine voice called out from behind the armor's face plate. "You have been chosen."
"The world of Earth is in dire peril." The voice from the scythe spoke calmly. "The Grim Reaper is no more."
"The crusade of Numbuh K9 of the Planet Tiberius has ended." The voice from the armor announced. "A new Numbuh Googolplex must exist."
"You carried the scythe once before, Numbuh 3. You must again."
"You fought for children once, Numbuh 4. You shall again."
They did not know how to react. She knew not whether to run. He knew not whether to scream. But they both felt something, deep within themselves. Something told them to stick their hands out. Something told them not to be afraid. Something told them to trust the voices. They didn't know it then, but it was them, Numbuh 3 and Numbuh 4 telling them to accept the voices.
Kuki Sanban reached out for the scythe's handle. Wallabee Beetles reached out for the helmet of the armor. In a flash of blinding light that covered the entire town, on two opposite ends of one single street, two legends began anew.
'And so, Numbuh 3 returned as the new Grim Reaper, and Numbuh 4 took on the ever changing mantle of Numbuh Googolplex. Two legends all on their own returned, starting a new chapter in their lives…'
