Ivan curled up closer in her cushy chair and pushed her raven hair out of her eyes. She continued to read her favorite book. Suddenly, a scream erupted out of the living room. Ivan slammed down the book and raced towards the noise. A tawny owl's tail feathers swooped out the window, and her mother stared down at an envelope in her hand.

"Not again…" Her mother's voice was barely above a whisper.

"Mother… Is something wrong?" Ivan asked tentatively.

Her mother cleared her throat. "Sweetheart, I'm afraid we haven't been entirely honest with you. You may want to take a seat." Ivan obediently sat as her father came in.

"What! Wha-" His voice was cut off when he saw the envelope in his wife's hand.

Ivan couldn't take it any longer. "What? What is this big secret everybody but me knows!?"

Her mother shook her head and took a deep breath. "Honey, this is a letter from the Ministry of Magic."

Ivan let out a snort of skepticism. "Yeah right." She snatched the paper out of her mother's hand. Her face drained of color as she continued to read the letter. "Wha.. How… I don't..."

"Sweetie, I know this may be hard for you to understand, after all, Michael behaved the same way-"

"You mean the Michael who's dead?" Ivan asked bitterly, spitting out the last word like poison.

"Iv, he isn't dead." Her father interjected.

Ivan's heart stopped. A look of utter shock slowly overcame her sharp features.

"So… you LIED TO ME?" she shrieked. "ALL THIS TIME! ALL THIS TIME I THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD!" She sobbed, and before her parents could interfere; "AND NOW THIS LETTER IS SAYING I'M A WITCH AND I'M GOING TO HOGFARTS!" she laid down, and cried. Her mother gently put a hand on her shoulder.

"We thought you wouldn't be a witch. Michael was, after all. So was I, but you're father never had to go through this madness. And it's Hogwarts" Ivan looked up at her mother.

"So… I'm not alone?" Her mother smiled sadly.

"Trust me, if we could, I would take away all your magic in a pinch." Her sad smile disappeared, replaced with one with thousands of memories behind it.
"I remember when I first found out. Both my parents were muggles, and they absolutely exploded at the thought of me going off to some hogwash 'wizarding' school."

Ivan rolled onto her back. I'm going to Hogfarts- Hogwarts to learn witchcraft. Please tell me this is a dream.

"Now let's head down to Diagon Alley!" Her mother chirped cheerfully.
