Caine woke with a start. He had been dreaming about... what, exactly? The scenes of the dream drifted away from him, as dreams often do. He only remembered one thing though - Diana was in it. Diana had been in his dreams a lot lately. It didn't surprise him. He was totally in love with her, and she knew it. But the question that lingered at the back of his mind, tortured him in his every waking moment, was... did she love him back? Caine knew that even if she did, she wouldn't tell him. She was just secretive like that. Perhaps that was another thing that he loved about her.

He yawned, stretched, and rose out of bed slowly. Glancing at the clock, he noticed that it was 6:07. Caine wasn't normally an early riser, but for some reason, he knew he wasn't going to get back to sleep.

He got dressed, and a couple of minutes later he was wandering the corridors of Coates Academy. All the while, thinking about Diana.

She seduced other guys, all except Drake. Caine often wondered - why was that? Why was Drake not affected by Diana? Caine smiled wryly to himself at the though - maybe he was gay. He almost laughed aloud. Then again, he did seem to follow Caine about a lot, do Caine's bidding, run any errands or anything Caine wanted. Actually, now he thought about it, he realised Drake did all the things for Caine that did for Diana. The thought shocked him, but he shook it off quickly.

He shivered. It was a cold night, and all he had on was an old, faded pair of jeans, a pair of brown Converse and a short-sleeved dark blue top.

He found himself in the library before he knew it. He had never liked books - and it was unlikely he ever would - but he liked to sit in there. Just him and his thoughts.

"Caine?" A voice sounded out across the vast darkness of the library.

"Diana? What are you doing here?"

"I couldn't sleep."

He heard the click-clack of her shoes, and knew she was walking toward him. His heart beat so loudly in his chest that he was sure she could hear it.

"Caine," she breathed. "You're surely not nervous?" He could almost hear her smirk.
She walked over to the light switch and turned it on. He thought she looked even more beautiful and seductive in the dim light. She laughed - in his opinion, the most beautiful sound in the world. She smiled - genuine, warm - unlike her usual dry, cold smirk. He found himself wondering what she was up to.

"I feel sorry for you, Caine," she whispered. She kissed him on the cheek. He frowned, confused.

"So, you're doing this out of pity?" he asked. She shook her head, still smiling.

"Perhaps, but mostly because I love you."

Then she kissed him full on. They had done this before - but now the tables were turned. It was his turn to be surprised. Why was she doing this? Had she had a change of heart? Not that he was complaining. Maybe the FAYZ has changed her for the better, he thought, smiling, before returning the kiss.

Perhaps 3 minutes later - Caine had never been any good at keeping track of time - the door opened. Drake stepped in.

"Ew. Gross. That's just - ew."

Diana left Caine, walking away slowly. "What's the matter, Drake? Never seen people kissing before?" she asked, before leaving the room.

Caine stared after Diana in bewilderment. Drake blinked. "I'm outta here," he muttered, before following Diana's footsteps. Caine just shook his head and sat, going back to his silent wondering.

"Caine?" Diana's voice. He wondered if she had come back for more. He smiled to himself.
"Hey, fearless leader, get up. Got work to do."

He opened his eyes slowly. He expected to find himself in the library. Instead, to his surprise, he found himself in his room. He realised - with a heavy heart - that he had been dreaming. Again.

Oh well. Maybe one day he would open his eyes to find that he hadn't been dreaming.
