As she slid through the barrier to Platform 9 ¾ Hermione automatically looked around for her best friend, Harry and her boyfriend, Ron. Thinking sadly of her parents in Australia, she walked over to the pair and hugged each.

"How were your holidays?" she asked the two.

"Good, I spent most of them at the Burrow with Ron," said Harry. "You?"

"I was trying to find my parents in Australia. I didn't know where they went, but I think I have a fairly good idea now, and I'm going looking for them in the Christmas holidays."

"Well I hope you find them, and we'd better get on the train, it's about to leave," said Ron.

Whilst they were on the train Ron didn't speak much, despite Hermione's constant attempts to talk.

When they arrived at Hogwarts, Ron went straight to bed after the feast.

"Harry, he hasn't said anything to you has he? He barely spoke to me all day," she said looking downcast.

"No, he is acting weirdly. He was fine at the Burrow, but he was writing a lot. I thought it was to you," replied Harry.

"No, it wasn't me. Anyway, thanks Harry, but I'm really tired. Good night..." she said miserably, as she got up to leave.

When she got up to the dormitory she ignored people's greetings, and jumped straight into bed, before falling asleep a second later.

Little did Hermione know that Ron wasn't in bed. He was in an unused classroom. With Lavender Brown.
