Caught in the Act

"Ok," she said. "Bye Dax." Kira turned away from her com unit. "Computer," she instructed. "Play something…that makes me want to dance."

Kira waited for a second and then the music started. Automatically Kira started to swing her hips to the tune.

"Computer, what song is this?" she asked. Her hips, head, and just about every part of her was moving to the beat.

"Thriller."

"Nice choice," she said.

She walked forward in her room, stepping into the beat. Then she turned around and had every part of herself moving in some way. Her hands were moving in front of her as if she was banging on a door…in style. Her hips were going hard to the left, then hard to the right, and they stayed in the motion. Her feet were moving in every way and she soon found herself in front of her mirror.

She grabbed her brush, and sang along with the chorus. "You know it's thriller, thriller night. You're fighting for you life in a killer, thriller night." She was amazed at how easily the words came to her. She was in front of the mirror, watching herself sing and dance.

She jumped onto her bed and began dancing and singing into her brush. "But all the while you hear the creature creeping up behind. You're out of time. 'Cause this is thriller, thriller night."

Kira had taken off the red over shirt, and now has a white undershirt on. Her hair was all misplaced from flinging her head around, but she didn't care. "You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller night."

All Kira felt she could do was sing and dance with the music. She had never heard this song before today, but she felt like she knew it. She had run and jumped off the bed; she ended up sliding on her knees across the floor. Sitting there, on her knees, she still sang.

"Now is the time for you and I to cuddle close together, yeah. All through the night I'll save you from the terror on the screen. I'll make you see."

Kira stood back up and continued dancing across the room. She felt as if she had been possessed. She couldn't stop the music. It wouldn't let her go.

"So let me hold you tight and share a killer, diller, chiller, thriller night." Kira dropped the brush and just danced.

She was keeping the beat within her and she couldn't control it. She didn't want to. She just wasn't to feel free…until she heard laughing. "Computer pause music!" she nearly shouted. She turned around to see Dax's face on the screen. Jadzia was laughing so hard that her spots might have fallen off if she laughed any harder.

"Jadzia!" yelled Kira. She looked at the com line.

"You…forgot…to turn…it off!" she said, still laughing. Then she held up a tube. "I…decided…to record…your performance."

"You wouldn't," said Kira.

"Oh, but I will," said Jadzia, who had stopped laughing. She inserted the device into the computer.

"No! Don't you dare!" It was too late. Jadzia pushed the button and it was distributed to every com system on the station.

"Have a nice day tomorrow," replied Dax as she started to laugh again. Kira turned off the com unit and stormed out of her quarters.

"DAX!" she shouted as she headed for the turbo lift. The doors opened and Kira got in. "Bridge," she said.

When the doors opened and Kira entered she found the video playing on the view screen. The other officers turned and laughed.

"DAX!" she shouted again as she headed for Jadzia's station. Before she could reach it she felt an arm on her shoulder. It was Sisco.

"What are you waiting for, Major? Go up there and sing!"

"Captain-" she protested.

"Don't make that an order," he said as he pushed her up the Bridge. Everyone clapped when they saw Kira come into view.

They restarted the video for Kira and she began to dance with the music.

Maybe this isn't so bad. This is actually kind of fun.

"It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the dark."

Maybe I'll thank Dax…
