What was it about her that enticed him so much when he first met her?
Was it the way she glided with her white gown flowing like a river? Perhaps it was the stamina she had in her words and body that remained through the torture she endured. Han had to shudder at the thought of what she survived, and without telling the Imperials the secret of the Rebel Base. It gave him strength just to know that she would fight valiantly.
It could also be the way her words could always attempt to bite him, secretly they did, and she could take the same thing without even a flinch. The way she looked in that jumpsuit in the South Passage claiming she would rather kiss a Wookiee than him. Her word choice was wide open with names she could call him and make his heart melt when she was stuttering to get the words out. That always gave him a chuckle when he thought about it.
Was it her compassion towards the smaller, more primitive creatures? The peace offerings to the Ewoks when they helped the Rebels take over the Imperial Base she made were substantial. She never judged anybody without knowing them, and always offered her kindness whenever she could. He certainly admired the way she kept faith in Lando when he betrayed them. She even suggested that he become General and direct a suicide fleet to destroy the Death Star. Her compassion had given many people a second chance to make good their wrongs and start over. That was certainly a plus.
She always had the greatest posture. Of course, being a Princess and a Senator (and later Chief of State) could help with that, but Han had to admire the fact that she would keep that erectness even when she could barely drag her feet. She constantly instructed him to sit up straight to help with back health, but he chuckled and slumped even lower in the seat. It gave him a reason to look up to her and be impressed by her.
When she was pregnant, he loved how she would wince, but continue with her current activity without bothering to curse her stomach. He thought her brave for grinning and bearing it, because she certainly couldn't change it without destroying herself in the process. It also gave him a chance at chivalry, allowing her to relax while he prepared the meal while also setting it on fire. She appreciated it just the same, though, making him feel good about himself.
Could it be possible in the galaxy that she was just perfect? Many men floundered over her while she did day-to-day shopping. Han didn't care, though. The only other men that made a difference in her life were Jacen and Luke. She gave the men in the shopping centres a good talking to before Han showed up, and she would just walk away from them, not bothering to taunt or tease them. Especially during those times, she would wear a loose-fitting outfit as to not egg them on. She would remain with Han, and nobody could change that for the the Nubian system.
Yes, Han was one happy man, brother-in-law, friend, and father. But the one thing he couldn't put his finger on was why.
