-Somewhere in Siberia-

Two hunters were walking through the woods near the Russian city of Ulan-Ude.

"So Artyom, how are things with your wife?" A hunter covered in snow camo said to his friend.

"Come on Dmitri, you know that I don't like talking about that…"

"Hugh…"

The two continued walking through the woods looking for a kill.

"Hey, what's that?" Dmitri asked pointing to a stone like structure frozen in ice.

"I don't know, let's go check it out."

As the two approached the frozen structure, they saw that there were a couple of men in armor frozen near the structure as well.

"Holy shit, this could be a huge discovery, come on we have to hurry back to the city and tell someone important, maybe we'll be compensated."

The two went to the local museum to talk to someone about their discovery.

They talked to some archaeologists, who then talked to some Governmental figures.

A few weeks later.

"Dmitri, Artyom, for your discovery of a Class 1 object, we shall award you with 100,000 rubles. Of course, we expect your total confidentiality regarding the structure you found."

1 month later, a military base was constructed around the structure… Scientists from the vast stretches of the Russian Federation were brought in the study it. They realized that it was a gate, almost identical to the one that appeared in Ginza, Tokyo… They unfroze it and debated whether or not to send an expeditionary force through it. The decision was finally made, the Russian Army would send the 23rd Independent Guards Rifle-Tank Division through the gate… The division consisted of 80 MBTs, 130 Apcs, 50 Spgs, 12 Mlrs, and 52 artillery pieces. 8,000 men make up the division. At 0500 the whistles blew, and the tank engines roared to life. The 23rd Independent Guards Rifle-Tank Division was sent on its way, to a new world filled with all sorts of dangers. Who knows what they will find. But one thing's for certain. The motives of the Russian Government were clear to all those involved. We would love to grab all those juicy minerals and resources, and maybe, we could even settle the new zone.

As the first few tanks crossed the gate, they found themselves in a very different place than they had originally started. The freezing air of Siberia was quickly contrasted by the warmth of the woods they had entered into.

The colonel leading the division was among the first tanks to cross into the special zone. He commanded an upgraded version of the old Soviet era T-72 battle tank. His name was, Vladimir Vladimirovich Urvan.

As soon as they crossed through the gate, Vladimir knew that this place was filled with dangers, he had heard of the troubles the Japanese Jieitai had with some large Dragon, but he was certain that the large number of tanks brought in will be enough to handle any force. The first trouble they faced was a large force of Imperial Soldiers who were ordered to guard this gate. There were around 10000 of them, but they had the numbers advantage since it would take several hours for all the Russian forces to cross the gate. He used the four tanks, and seven AFVs that were had already crossed the gate to wreak havoc onto the enemy forces. He ordered the tanks to plow right through the ranks of the imperial forces, and his AFVs mowed down any other resistance. Within five minutes the whole imperial force began a retreat back to imperial territory.

Vladimir got out of the tank holding a flag pole and the emblem of the Russian land forces. The men who were already across the gate gathered around him.

"We, as soldiers of the Russian Federation, claim this new found land as the newest addition to the Russian Federation. We will defend it with our lives, and we will push ever onwards to understand this place." As he planted the flag pole into the ground the men erupted into sporadic "Uras".

The gate was located on a small hill, the hill was covered in trees so they would have to clear it before they would be able to build a military base around the gate…

It took them 1 week to build the installation to its fully functioning status. A runway was built, and forty su-35s, 5 Tu-160s, and 6 Mil Mi-24 Attack Helicopters were transported to the installation. The idea was that if Russia's and Japan's interests would go into conflict, Russian superior military presence would out gun the Jieitai.

Communication lines were established as soon as possible. Orders from high command had begun to flood back in. Their first order, establish contact with the locals, make the presence of the Russian army known.

Colonel Vladimir and Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu

"Commander of the 23rd Independent Guards Rifle-Tank Division, Vladimir Vladimirovich Urvan, reporting sir."

"Commander. Here are your orders. First and foremost, assemble a small force and head off to Alnus hill to greet the Jietai. It is important for both of us to understand that we are both here in force. Second. After you make contact with the locals, look for any opportunity to test the strength of the Jietai. Do not force them into action. But observe them, we want to be ready if we'll have to engage them. As well as this. Attempt to expand the zone of influence that we control. If possible, make sure that a nearby city or town of big enough size agrees to our protection. That is all."

"Sounds easy enough."

After the conversation with his superior Vladimir called for a meeting of all officers.

"Alright. Listen up fellows. I have just received our orders. We are to assemble a small force and go greet the Japanese at Alnus hill. Any volunteers?" Several hands were raised.

"Lieutenant Kostya, take 8 tanks and 32 men to go say hello to the Japanese, I will be joining you for some diplomatic talks with the Japanese leadership. Second, Captain Sidorov, take half of our force and map out the area surrounding this hill. That is all, the rest of you, I don't know. Take some time to relax, make sure we have a secure perimeter around this hill."

After the briefing Kostya gathered his force and awaited Vladimir for the order to go.

"Alright Kostya, lets head out."

"Yes sir…" Kostya paused. "Sir, are you not traveling with us? The tanks are this way."

"No, I will be traveling with you, in a Krokodil Helicopter (Hind). We do want the Japanese to see that we are here in force after all."

As he was getting into the Krokodil, Vladimir looked to his side, looking at the rising sun. As he watched the sun rise, he thought to himself. "I wonder, how much blood will I spill here."

And so, the Russian Armed Forces fought in a land in a different universe, away from home.
