A/N : hey guys and here is a one shot that I've been meaning to do ever since I started I hope it's came out ok so let me know what you guys think about it. P.S the naming of Shepard Amy is completely coincidental no links should be made towards other writers living or dead (CombineGLaDOS)
Amy Shepard lay under the main highway in Vancouver at only 5 years old she couldn't remember the life her brother Adam had told her about.
Her parents Hanna and Michael Shepard who apparently loved them.
her father was killed by the 'Turians' and from what her brother had told her they were just oversized birds her mother on the other hand had struggled to provide for her two children and had jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge in their home city of Los Angeles.
Amy and her brother had then moved to Vancouver with a 'foster' family which Amy could sadly recall she remembered them at first being kind and welcoming but then they soon changed she remembered accidentally breaking one of the plates then her 'father' hit her soon after that she and Adam escaped under the cover of the night with nothing but what they could carry.
Amy took out her necklace the only thing she could remember about her real parents was the day they gave her and her brother one of these each it had a photo of the whole family in.
Amy was angry at her self that she couldn't remember any more about her parents she closed the necklace and put her head on the ground and fell asleep.
10 years later
"Ok go go go" Amy said as she ran out of the bakery.
"I knew you wouldn't let us down" Adam said as he ran after his sister they turned through the streets that made their home until they knew they were safe "So how much did you get?" Adam said as he caught his breath.
"what no well done first?" Amy said as she through a loaf of bread at her brother.
"Hey now I never you did badly did I?" Adam asked.
"yeah but you never said I did a good job either" Amy said as she opened her backpack and started to count how many pieces of bread she had took "I'd say I got us enough to last us a couple of weeks if we are careful" She said.
"Well done little sis" Adam said putting his hand on Amy's shoulder.
"Thanks and was that so hard?" Amy said as she closed her bag.
"Yes well done" a voice said.
"Agh Mark what do you want?" Adam asked annoyance clear in his voice.
"Well I know you two have just taken some food and well you see we are running low so I'll take some of yours" Mark said.
"if you're so tough why don't you go set some for your self" Amy asked mockingly.
"Amy stop give him some bread" Adam giving his sister the 'do as you're told look.
' "you'd be wise to listen to him this city can be a dangerous place especially for a young woman like you" Mark said looking at Amy the look he gave her made Amy's stomach churn.
"fine" She said as she opened her bag and through a couple pieces of bread at Mark.
"thank you this should be enough for me to not need to see you people any time soon" he said as he walked off.
"I hate that guy" Amy said.
"Calm down sis we've only got three more years living like this then we can go enlist think about it following in our fathers footsteps seeing what's out there" Adam said.
"If it is so interesting why don't you just go I mean you are eighteen after all" Amy pointed out.
"I can't I promised mum I'd take care of you after dad died" Adam said Amy sighed that damn promise again it always came up when Adam was explaining things why though if their mother was such a great person she wouldn't have jumped and left two children all on their own.
Amy then looked at the clock in the buildings window "Oh god it's time" Amy said as she started to run.
"What Amy what's going on?" Adam asked as she once again ran after her "Keep up it's important" Amy said with a hint of excitement.
A/N : yes this isn't finished i think i can get at least two more chapters out of this.
