Chapter 1: A Human In The Outlands

The sun shined in the Outlands. It was the warmest day of the dry season. All the animals who lived here, struggled to reach the nearest waterholes they could find.

Four hyenas were walking around in an effort to find some food.

"Shenzi! Can't we take a break? I'm gettin' exhausted here!" Banzai complained. Shenzi just rolled her eyes and shooked her head.

"No, barkbreath! We took a break for ten minutes ago. Now move it!" she commanded. Banzai sighed again and resumed his walk.

Suddenly, Shenzi noticed a piece of meat near a nearby tree. Grinning mischievously, she approached the target, wanting it for herself.

As the female hyena was eating, luckily unaware of two men in green clothes were looking at her.

"She's a good female, what do you think James?" asked one of the men.

"Yes, she's perfect, Ringo." said the other one of the two men.

Meanwhile...

"Hey, Ed! Where do ya think Shenzi go?" Banzai asked his companion. Before Ed could reply, a scream was heard and they rushed over to see Shenzi lying down on the ground, barely moving.

"Shenzi! Shenzi! Can you hear me?" Banzai asked as he shook Shenzi's body in hope of waking her up. But it was impossible.

Banzai's ears perked up as he heard some humans coming closer.

Banzai told the others to go, and the ran away, hiding in a nearby bush so they could spy on the humans. They watched the two men drag their friend away, putting her in a cage. When the car was gone, Banzai, Ed and Raki got out of their hiding place.

"We gotta save 'er!" Banzai exclaimed.

"But how? They are humans! We're just hyenas!" Raki complained.

Then, Banzai looked at his friends with a firm glance.

"We have to try! C'mon! We got no time to loose!" he shouted and bolted away in the direction the car had been driving in. Seeing no other way to refuse, Ed and Raki ran after Banzai, in hope of finding Shenzi.

"Don't worry, Shenzi! We'll save you!" Banzai thought to himself as he ran faster and faster...
