AN- This is a little one shot I wrote a few years ago about Jack and Sam, I haven't written about them for a while so I'm a little rusty. I hope you enjoy it.
Jack hated waiting, he had already flown across the country and gotten three busses and it was killing him waiting for his two beautiful girls to arrive. He'd locked the door once he'd gotten in so that they wouldn't freak out, he knew his wife was good at that. Grace was their only kid, Sam was told that she couldn't have kids so when she found out she was pregnant… well, you can imagine how happy she was. Grace was their little angel and they gave her everything, but they taught her discipline and generosity too. The little girl was perfect. She had Jack's hair and love of cake but the rest of her was Sam, she was a super smart, blue eyed, gorgeous girl and Jack loved her to death.
He heard the front door open from his chair in the living room. He wanted to run in and hold them forever, but he didn't. He stayed where he was because he had planned a perfect surprise. They would get home and try to call him but today he would call them on his mobile only a few metres away.
Ring ring… Ring ring…
Jack heard Grace pick up the phone and say "O'Neill Residents" In the cutest voice possible, she didn't even say residence.
"Hey sweetie, it's Daddy." Jack smiled, trying not to let his voice echo to their spot in the kitchen.
Grace squealed in delight and shouted "Mommy, mommy! It's Daddy."
"Grace, I want to play a game with you. You ask questions about where I am and I'll say yes or no." It was perfect.
"Okay daddy. Are you sat in front of a big pile of paperwork?"
"No." Jack shook his head, laughing slightly. "But I'll have to ask Mommy what she's been telling you."
"You're not at work. Are you at home in Washingtub with a big piece of cake?" Jack smiled at how she said Washington. Even though she should learn how to say it properly he still thought it was cute.
"No…"
"Wait. I know where you are. Don't move." Grace put down the phone and ran out of the kitchen. The little sic year old squealed as she launched herself at her dad. "I won Daddy, I won."
"Jack?" A relieved voice sounded from the hall. Sam was stood awestruck at the man holding her daughter. "What are you doing here?"
"One of the pipes burst and flooded six floors. We're all off work for a week and I still have my vacation time next week." He said as he dropped Grace to the ground. "I'm really here this time." Jack slowly walked over to Sam and put both hands on either side of her face.
Sam reached up for his collar and pulled his lips closer to hers. Their lips met and they kissed passionately. Jack's hands slid down to Sam's waist and he pulled her against him.
Grace turned away awkwardly. "That's gross." She exclaimed.
"It won't be when you're older sweetie." Sam reminded her as her head fell against Jack's chest.
"What? My little Grace is not growing up." Jack teased. "I will not let that happen."
Grace ran over to him and they pulled her into their embrace.
"I love you Daddy."
"I love you too sweetie."
