A thief in the rain

It´s raining. He can feel how the raindrops pour down on his face, and how it´s soaking his clothes. The white suit that he´s wearing is not rainproof, that´s one thing for sure.

He´s a thief. A thief out in the rain all alone, but even though it´s raining he can barely feel it. His thoughts are somewhere else.

-Why did you have to die?

He mumbles out into the night.

He lifts up his hand and look at it. The monocle and the hat that he´s always hiding behind lay on the ground beside him.

No matter how many jewels he stole, it never was the right one. Pandora. The name of the gem for which his father had to give up his breath for. The gem that he, his son, now was searching for. Same goal, but different purpose. This Kaito KID would destroy it. Destroy the thing that would grant eternal life.

KID clenches his fist. Definitively. He would avenge him and make sure the organization wouldn´t hurt any more innocent. No more!

He looks up to the sky again, closing his eyes. How fitting. He thought. The phantom thief chasing after a legend that might not exist. Maybe this whole thing was just useless. Is this really what his father would want?

Sorrow overcomes the thief´s heart once more.

One more heist, one more failure. Giving up doesn´t sound so bad anymore.

He opens his eyes. Suddenly, the rain isn´t falling on him anymore. KID turns around.

Behind him, right next to the hat and the monocle, stands a little boy. A boy with glasses. He´s looking away. In his hand there´s an umbrella, protecting both of them from the rain.

KID looks at him for a second, then he smiles.

-Thanks.

-No problem.
