Ah, oneshots. Who doesn't love 'em?
I love them because nearly anything over 1,500 words loses my attention.
I also love fluff.
Fluff here, fluff there, fluff everywhere. Fluff is better than barbecue chips. It's even better than the Panty & Stocking poster on my wall!
But now I'm rambling. But you know who else rambles? The Doctor.
It had been a fine day on the planet of Name-Rose-Could-Not-Pronounce when the Doctor and Rose had arrived. The sun was shining, birds chirping, flowers blooming, a cool breeze, and to top it off even the dominant species of this planet was friendly. It was a nice change of pace (for Rose, at least) to meet a race who didn't have an everlasting grudge against her companion. That all suddenly changed (well, the parts Mother Nature was dealing with, anyway) after a few hours of the couple strolling around, browsing the shops, and chatting with whatever this species was. Dark clouds obstructed the sun's warmth, it started pouring, and the cool breeze turned into a powerful wind, catching Rose so off guard she would've fallen over if the Doctor hadn't steadied her.
"Doctor, the sun was just shinin' a minute ago, how did this happen?" She had to raise her voice to be heard over the storm.
He looked up, just as thunder and lighting hit the sky. "Happens quite often here. Strange weather patterns, it's what Kulterskola is known for!" He explained, flashing that stupid grin of his at her.
She instinctively reached for the hood of her jacket, which she then realized she had left in the TARDIS. "Think ya could've mentioned that before I decided to leave without my jacket?"
"I could've, but you didn't ask now did ya?" He teased, making his way towards the blue box.
"Well, it would've been nice to know." She said, following close behind.
"But if you knew everything about these places from the start, it wouldn't be any fun now, would it?"
She smiled despite herself. "I suppose you have a point there, Doctor."
After a few minutes of walking in comfortable silence, the Doctor glanced down at his companion. She was hugging herself, shivering and sniffling, with her damp hair sticking to her, as well as her now-soaked clothes. It was a pitiful sight indeed. The Doctor grabbed her wrist, signaling her to stop walking, before taking his coat off and draping it over her shoulders.
"Doctor, I'm really oka-" She began, but the now coat-less man before her held his finger to her lips, so she simply smiled a thank you and put her arms into the coat, which was about a bajillion sizes too big for her (the Doctor being a tall man).
The Doctor took note of how helpless (and adorable, he thought, before pushing said thought out of his mind) she looked, huddled in his (rather long, now that he thought about it) coat, giving a small sneeze every once in a while.
"Are we almost back to the TARDIS? It didn't seem this far before..." Rose asked, looking up at him like a small child.
He laughed, and took her hand. "Well there wasn't a storm before."
"But still..." She pouted.
"Do you need me to carry you? Can your legs just not make it any further?" He asked, poking her teasingly.
She held her arms up to him, which was received with him raising his eyebrows. "Well, you asked."
"Touché." With that, he swooped her up, and continued on their (now his) trek to the TARDIS, with her snuggling her face to his chest, eventually falling asleep.
Okay, turns out I lied and this isn't going to be a one-shot.
Oops.
Or perhaps a collection of one-shots? What do you guys think?
I try not to be a review whore, but please do so, even if it just says "this is a review", it's good to know someone's reading my story!
Also if you spot any spelling/grammar mistakes be sure to tell me. I'm kinda obsessive over that stuff.
