She Cries
Lisa wakes up, smiling, remembering what her and Rippner did the previous night. She turns over to kiss her love good morning, only to find a cold, empty pillow.
She cries.
She goes to work, with a fake smile on her face. She accepts a delivery of a bouquet of roses. Lisa smiles, on the inside and outside, at the sweetness of her love, until the card is read: Because I love you. From Tom, to Cynthia.
She cries.
Lisa supervises a wedding party in ballroom 6. The wedded couple merrily dance on the dance floor, enjoying the moment. The couple share a passionate kiss, confessing their un-dying love once again.
She cries.
Lisa checks in a family, with two children, who couldn't look more perfect. The father playfully tickles the children, with that fatherly smile on his face, until he hugs them both, whispering his love in their ears.
She cries.
She goes home, to an empty apartment. Lisa cooks dinner, then sets the table. She absentmindedly sets the table for two, and then begins to eat. Halfway through her meal, Lisa notices her mistake.
She cries.
As Lisa is laying down, she hears the door creak open. She feigns sleep, as her love enters the room. She pretends to wake up, and eventually both lose themselves in love. She traces the new bruises and cuts on his body, until falling into an uneasy sleep.
Lisa wakes up. She begins to sit up, when she notices her love, sound asleep, still lying next to her in bed.
She smiles.
Lisa opens her eyes. She wonders how she fell asleep again, as realization dawns on her: she only dreamt waking up. She reaches out, hoping to feel the warm flesh of her lover, only to find cold sheets and an empty pillow.
She cries.
