I sighed to myself, sitting on the cold stone floor of my cell. I was dressed in rags, just barely covering my breasts and butt. My black wings, similar to that of a bat's in human world… Ningenkai… only larger, stronger, wrapped around me, protecting my body. My messy, long black hair hung in my face, and my blood red eyes stared at the ground.

I have been in this place for years… Demons are near eternal, and I've been in here since I was a pup. My family had sold me.

Heh, it was something you should expect, here in Demon World, or the Makai. I thought I'd be killed by now; No one had ever bought me.

Until today.

I only saw a flicker of silver hair as the cell door opened.

"Kalini. You have been bought." said the dark voice of the slaveholder. I looked up slightly, seeing three people in the room. A fellow Bat demon, a fox demon, and the Slaveholder.

"Get up." the Slaveholder ordered. I attempted to get up, on shaky legs. I fell back down. The Slaveholder roundhoused kicked me in the head, causing me to fall to the ground.

"Get. Up." he ordered again. I shakily stood. The male bat demon gave me a pitying look. He… looked so familiar…

The slaveholder pushed me to my new owners. Upon closer inspection, one of them was Yoko Kurama, a famous thief of Makai, who holds the title King of Thieves. The male bat demon took my hand, cutting away part of the chain that binded me to the wall. He didn't leave enough so he could lead me away like his new pet… I gave him a small, meek, questioning look, but he just gave me a small smile. I looked down. My eye caught on a pendant around his neck. My eyes widened as a memory played in my head.

I walked over to my older brother, Kuronue, a necklace in my hand. It was a pendant, actually.

"Kuro! Look what I found!" I said. He looked at the pendant and smiled, "Its beautiful, Kali." he whispered. He was the only one of my family who liked me; He was sent away before I was sold into slavery by our parents. He never wanted to leave. I never wanted him to leave…

"K-Kuro…?" I whispered, my voice hoarse and raspy from nonuse. I was hit again by the Slaveholder, collapsing to my knees. Kuronue caught me. I saw a flicker of green, and the slaveholder's head fell to the ground.

My eyes then only saw black…

I must've passed out…

My eyes opened to a bright light. Was I dead?

No… I heard talking from next to me. I rose my hand, and a warm hand took it.

"Nee-chan, its alright." came my brother's voice, "You're safe, Kali. You're in Yoko Kurama's hideout, so don't worry. He won't let any harm come to you, and neither will I."

"Kuronue, I didn't think you'd be this soft around your little sister." came a smooth, mature voice.

"Shut it, Kurama. I haven't seen her in centuries."

"Centuries… I… spent… as… a … slave..." I whispered.

"I know, Kali. I'm sorry you had to go through that." Kuronue said, "I'll get you some new clothes instead of those rags."

I just nodded.

I felt Kuronue's sad look.

He just realized that his little sister was already broken.
