Dekka stared out the window in one of the highest rooms at Clifftop. She stayed far away from Lana's room, even though she wasn't there anymore. Lana had rushed to the lake to save Computer Jack.

Down below, there were people crying. There were people waving. There were people everywhere. On the other side of the FAYZ wall parents, friends, and family members of the FAYZ kids were holding up signs for them. But here Dekka was, watching. Unseen by anyone.

"Your family down there?" Dekka almost jumped at her voice. But she was almost used to Brianna coming out of nowhere all the time. Almost.

"Really, Brianna, you need to work on that. You're going to regret scaring me when I accidentally throw you out the window." Brianna slumped on the ground next to Dekka's feet.

"Sorry. It's easy to forget." Dekka turned her head back to the people outside.

"You didn't answer. Is your family down there? On the other side?" Dekka looked away, to the wall, before answering.

"No. They sent me to Coates for a reason. This is probably even better."

"Oh. Well, if it helps, my family isn't there either." Dekka slid to the floor by Brianna.

"What's the point of them coming anyway? It's not like they could help us." Dekka realized how pitiful she sounded. Well it is the FAYZ. Most people here had forgotten hope long ago. Brianna leaned her head on Dekka's shoulder. A rare moment when she didn't hide her emotions.

"I could have."

"What?" Dekka looked at her with confusion.

"I could have helped us. I was there, you know. When the gaiaphage took over Diana's kid. And I didn't stop it." Now Brianna's voice was breaking. Dekka put her arm around Brianna without thinking. When she realized what she had done, she froze in fear of Brianna leaving. But Brianna didn't go. She stayed with Dekka, crying in her arms. But Dekka knew she would eventually. So she held Brianna close and swore revenge on the gaiaphage that had broken her.
