So, I'm back with another drabble! This one is for the Firelord Izumi Week, Day 1 - Daughterhood. I love Izumi (even though she had a very small appearance), so I had to write something about her...
Hope you all enjoy it (and please, tell me if I made any mistakes)
It wasn't easy to be the Firelord's daughter.
That automatically made her the princess and the heir to the throne, and as she grew older the expectations of the elders of her were increasing. They would ask her tricky questions and she would try to avoid inquiries on her physical abilities. She would take some small responsibilities and participate more in some meetings, and the others would be suspicious, but recognizing that she had some skills ("for a girl", they said).
It wasn't easy to be the Firelady's daughter either.
The women in the palace would always surround her, young generals' wives and old generals' widows. They wouldn't stop talking about their sons, hoping they would get acquainted and become "close friends". They would talk about the balls and dinners they would be hosting at their houses and expecting her to come, and maybe bring her mother along.
It wasn't easy in any way to be Zuko's and Mai's daughter.
People all around her would always look up to the child of the hero of the war, like they were waiting for her to suddenly throw fire from her eyes or grow a third eye. They would always expect her to do something unpredictable like her father used to (or so they said). They kept tiptoeing around her, like she was some kind of divinity that they, poor mortals, were no worthy of coming closer to her. It seemed they couldn't decide between the princess and the offspring of the hero.
And they would also tell her how pretty she was and the older women would even ask her why she wasn't as sweet and kind as her mother (did they even knew her?) and waited anxiously for her debuting party. How would her robes look like? How would her hair be like? And everything elseā¦
She would just sigh.
It wasn't easy to be their daughter.
They were weird in private, and unlike her friends' parents.
They had an odd way of talking to her, their friends and each other.
But Izumi wouldn't want different parents for anything in the world.
