Brrriiiiiiiinnnnngggg!

The deafening sound of the school bell shook the marble building, ringing into everyone's eardrums. Despite how ear damaging the bell might have been, it was a heavenly melody to the students' ears. They whooped as they jumped up immediately, packing their belongings at an inhumanly speed.

One particular boy was the first to rush out the two wooden doors of the school entrance and dash past the gates, into what he called freedom. The blond teenager started off into a rapid run, whizzing past yelling people and honking cars. Destination? His house, of course.

He arrived in front of his home rather quickly, and unlocked the door in a split-second. With a soft sigh, he calmed down and took a lazy step into the house. The insides of the house did seem lacking of furniture, and was on the small side. But it gave off a comforting and warm feeling, which would make someone feel welcome. Not to mention, the colors of the house - different hues of maple, to be exact - gave a light finishing touch to that feeling.

And besides, the teen wouldn't complain about anything, even the lack of a computer. (That was all talk at school, because of instant messaging, e-mails, and freedom of surfing an entire virtual world or whatnot) It was the best his single mother could do, and the boy would accept it gratefully.

No, no, it wasn't like the boy's family was incredibly poor or anything, but they were one of those families that had less income. They were able to afford all their necessities and a few additional things for entertainment, such as the small TV that watched over their living room.

And even though their family did come across problems frequently, his mom would make everything right with some time. Besides, he had something most kids didn't have – a strong bond between his mother and himself. Their bond was so firm that they were more like best friends than anything else.

Ah, the boy's name, you ask? Uzumaki Naruto. His mother was Uzumaki Yumi.

Now, Naruto strolled off to his room that was barely five times the size of a normal closet, but there was room enough for his bed and a door to an actual closet. A rather small one, but it did fit his neatly folded clothes and jackets. It wasn't like he had too many, anyway.

Naruto changed into more comfortable clothes, grabbed his backpack again, walked out, tossed the dirty clothes into the hamper, and went to the living room to do his homework.

And another normal day went by, with ease...

Short, because it's the prologue. If you want me to dish out longer and quicker chapters, gimme a review! =D
