"5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" The crowd chanted. It was now midnight and Mass Effect 3 had just been released to the eagerly awaiting fans.
Petty Officer First Class Alex Romanoff was one of the many people standing in line waiting to receive his copy of the game. He had just gotten back from Virginia Beach, Virginia and was happy to be back home. Ever since his friend convinced him to play Mass Effect back in High School, he couldn't get enough of it.
He got back into his car and drove back to his house in west Bloomington. In all honesty, it was his parents' house. Was being the operative word. They had died several years ago and he being their only child, their house passed to him.
He was on leave for two weeks so he decided that he was going to do a full run through of the Mass Effect series while he was able to. You never know when the next deployment would be the last.

Alex was not in a good mood. He had just finished Mass Effect 3 the previous evening and was not too happy with how the ending played out. He decided to drink away the memory of it with the help of a bottle of Glenlivet.

Finally finding the phone, "Hello," he slurred.
"Sounds like someone had a bit of a party last night," the man on the other end said.
"Not really, just trying to forget what happened last night."
"Did it work?"
"Nope," there was only one reason why the man on the end would be calling him, "What so important that you needed to call me a week before my leave ends Captain?"
"You and I both know I can't say on an unsecured line. Just get back to Virginia Beach ASAP."
"Aye-aye sir."
A/N: Short chapter for now. More action coming soon.
