Remembering Elysian By Samantha Webb Summary:
Darien receives a mysterious note from someone who can help him remember his past. What is in store for him? From the POV of Darien.
I found a note on the floor. It was addressed to me. Across the front was neatly printed, Darien Shields. My name. I didn't recognize the handwriting. But I did open the letter. It read:
Dear Darien, I know you don't remember me, but I certainly remember you. It has been a long time, but I hope that I still exist in the back of your mind. Think back. Back to your past. See that figure in the back of your mind? That's me. Meet me at the address, 3615 Elysian Way. The door is unlocked. Always has been. I'll meet you upstairs. All your questions will be answered soon. I am a friend. -R
I closed the note, and thought long and hard about wether or not to go to this mystery house. I decided yes. I got in my car and drove there. When I got there, I saw that the house was old, but in good condition. I walked up to the porch and saw a child's swing there. For one moment, I saw my younger self swinging there. I was laughing, and smiling, like I was having a great time. When it stopped, I continued on to the front door.
I opened it, and saw a dusty old house with sheets covering everything. I saw a set of stairs, and walked up them. I saw a girl a few years younger than me who could've been my twin. She had shoulder length, black hair the same color as mine. She had the same indigo blue eyes as mine. She was wearing a white t-shirt with faded blue jeans. "Hello, Darien. I'm glad you came. We have a lot to talk about. Come with me."
She started leading me up to the second floor. Something about this house seemed familiar. I saw shadows of my younger self everywhere. I was usually chasing something. It looked like a little girl. I came back to my senses when we stopped at a door. The girl spoke. "Darien, I have something to tell you. I know you have been seeing them all over the house too. These are shadows of things that have been. Your past. Our past. Enough of that. Let me show you." She opened the door that we were standing at.
