I walk into my house, it's hot, and I'm tired. My mother is off hard at work on dinner. "How was school?" she asks, sweat beading down her forehead.
"It was good" I reply as I sit at our little table and put my head down, "We learned about The Hunger Games today."
"Mmm," a soft hum escapes from her mouth "Well, that's good. At least they're teaching you something in that place."
I don't like it when my mother talks like this. I'm afraid that a Peacekeeper will be walking by our house, and overhear us. I don't want her to be killed like the people who try to disrupt the Capitols working. A rebellious women, my mother. I figure she's always been that way. I know she'd have to be, or else I wouldn't be here.
"I think the Capitols just doing what they think is right, I mean, I learned in history that a lot of men in the past have done things like this." I say "Surely, they'll be overthrown sometime.." I finish in a whisper, still afraid that someone will hear us.
My mother just laughs. I like to see her laughing, she looks prettier and younger. It reminds me of why my father must have chosen her. To save, and to love, and to reproduce with.
"Of course they will, darling" she murmured "Soon enough, they will get what they've been deserving. Everyone does."
I lie with my head still on the table, still tired, and still hot.
"Everyone?" I asked.
"Everyone, even you." she concluded as she placed my dinner in front of me.
I lift my head and smile at her, an act that is returned with hot hands brushing my hair back from my face.
"Eat quickly, we have to go to work soon." she sighed.
I sighed too, knowing that tonight we had a long night of work. Harvest seasons always call for elongated hours. I devour my plate of berries, apples, and pieces of wild turkey and return my dish to the washing tub. I reach up until I'm on my tip toes and let myself sigh once more before kissing my mother on the forehead, bid her a farewell, and head out into the fields of District 11.
Hello everyone, and thank you for reading this. Basically this was a supposed to be a small viewing of my OC's life in District 11.
Notes: Her mothers name is Mai and is a worker in the fields of District 11. Originally her family is from District 7, but they fled to this district hoping to find District 13 before the rebellion.
When I say that "A rebellious women, my mother. I figure she's always been that way." I mean that Kaelaunie was born out of rebellious lust and love with Cinna.
Please review, I love to hear all of your thoughts!
