"What do you mean, 'less than a minute until detonation'? Detonation to what?" Sif asked, trying to yank her arm away from Wade's iron grip, slightly surprised he could pull her so easily. A brown bag, seemingly bursting with green paper was slung casually over his other shoulder.
"Listen toots, no time to explain, we gotta make like a tree and leaf. Literally; I got a lotta green here." He shook his bag. She narrowed her eyes.
"Why would we need to destroy the structure? Wade Wilson, you specifically told me we were just visiting this bank to withdraw currency to donate to those little female children that sold you cookies last week!" Sif dug her heels into the ground, halting them both.
"And you believed me! Besides, it's Sunday. Didn't you think something was up when I had to break a window to get in?" He turned to her, clearly holding in a laugh.
"Well, I thought it was odd but I-"
"No time to debate whether my moral compass is skewed, sweet cheeks, we're now down to 34 seconds." Deadpool tapped furiously on his empty wrist.
"What gods did I ever offend to be burdened with such a dishonourable beast such as you?" Sif sighed.
"Well, if you want to blame anyone, blame Gwen. Or Peter. Either one. Or both. Yeah, both is good." Deadpool shrugged, but pulled on Sif's arm until they reached a window. Sif put her hands on her hips and huffed as Wade thrust his elbow through the glass, shattering it.
"Is the building at least evacuated?" Sif asked as she watched him hoist a leg over the edge, offering her his hand, with a quick 'm'lady'. She ignored it and climbed out after him.
"Yeah yeah, I told you, it's Sund-"
Suddenly, a deafening boom echoed through the building, breaking the rest of the windows, and sending Deadpool and Sif hurling forward. They flew through the air, and in an instant, were back on the ground. Sif had taken out a mail box in her wake, and Deadpool was cradled in the smoking remains of a New York City taxi.
Sif stumbled to her feet and rubbed her elbow. She didn't bruise easily, but this one just might leave a mark.
"Son of Wil! Can you walk? I think the blue-clad defenders of the city are arriving…" Sif swatted at his hand, which was dangling alongside the ruins of the car. Sirens began to blaze in the distance as the former building was reduced to a smoking ruin.
He seemed to sputter a bit, red seeping through his mask where his mouth would be, "Y-yeah.. Don't worry about me.. This heap of metal and glass broke my fall…"
"No time for you to heal, my friend," Sif grabbed hold of Deadpool's wrist and heel and hoisted him onto her back, "you're heavier than you look.." she grunted and she darted down an alley, away from the gathering crowd of civilians.
"Gee, thanks Sif, didn't know you cared." he gurgled, bones shifting and snapping back into place. He somehow managed to still be clutching the sack of stolen cash with an iron grip.
Sif scoffed, "I just need to keep you alive so I can kill you myself, Son of Wil."
"Yeah yeah.. Admit it; I'm growing on you." Wade chuckled, lying boneless across Sif's shoulders. Sif only rolled her eyes, knowing she couldn't truthfully deny it.
