A/n: okay I'm gonna do a few chapters for this, depends on weather I get reviews or not.....

How It Started

Legolas was walking through the forest of Mirkwood, when he saw something unusual up in a tree. Legolas automatically hid behind a tree "Who goes there?!" No one answered. He peeked out from behind the tree, quickly shooting an arrow at the unknown object sitting upon a branch; he then ducked back behind the tree.
There was a small "thump" and then silence. Legolas approached the thing with caution. It was small, at first Legolas thought that it was a small animal. But as he came closer, he noticed that it was brightly colored. It of course was a Gnome, but Legolas had no idea what the heck it was. It had a tall red pointy hat, a white beard, plaid yellow shirt, a gray vest, red pants and black boots.
"Who are you?" He asked it. It didn't answer. "Who are you?" he repeated.
After a good five minutes he became inpatient "Who the heck are you?!" he screamed. Legolas picked it up and threw it at a tree, there was a "crack" the poor Gnome had broken, but it was empty except for a bunch of sand, Legolas picked it up and stared at it for a long while. It was almost, hypnotizing. He decided to keep it and take it to Gandalf. Legolas knew exactly where Gandalf was, the Archives of Gondor.
Legolas hopped onto his horse and sped away to Minas Tirith. It took Legolas five days to reach the beautiful city. As he entered the room that held the archives he found his old pal "Gandalf!"
"Legolas my lad!" Gandalf was sitting behind a desk that had piles and piles of papers and books "How have you been lately? And why have you come so far away from your homelands just to see me?"
"I have found something, but I am not sure what it is." Legolas pulled out the gnome from the pack that he had with him and handed it to Gandalf "Can you tell me what it is?" he asked
"Oh, this is a Garden Gnome, or Lawn Gnome which ever you wish to call it" he said casually as if this was something he saw every day which he did infact see Gnomes every day because he had quite a large collection of Gnomes that sat in both his front yard and back yard.
"A Gnome? Is it evil? Have I done wrong by bringing it?" Legolas looked worried.
"No, no my dear boy, it is not evil, although some people tend to think so" he added as a side note.
"Oh thank goodness!" Legolas sighed in relief. "What is it for?" he asked, now very interested in the small figure that Gandalf now held.
"Some people use them for decoration, they put them in their gardens, may I have this?" Gandalf asked hopefully.
"No! You may not have my Gnome!" Legolas snatched the gnome out of Gandalf's hands. "I am keeping the gnome!" he hugged the gnome tightly.
"Well, are you going to name it?" asked Gandalf.
"I already have! His name is Gnomey, and he will live in the flower pot near my back door!" Legolas cradled Gnomey in his arms "Well, I should be off. My father might be worrying about me. Farewell Gandalf!" with that Legolas waved good bye and exited the building. He quickly jumped on his horse and rode off into the sunset.
