That evening, Korra was carried to her room by guards and ordered to rest so that everything that happened between her in Tarlok would be discussed the following morning. It was cold that night, only because the young avatar left the window open. Korra limped to her bathroom, looked in the mirror and let her hair out. She heats the freezing bath water and slowly gets in it. Feeling the intense pain calmly relieving. Korra quickly grabs her water tribe night gown and sits on her bed.

Korra's POV

What if I end out being a disappointment for everyone if I don't beat Amon. People would see me a joke… Maybe I really am the worse avatar.

The waterbender started to tear a bit. Suddenly the door peaked half way open.

"Wh-who is that!," she yelled.

"Shh Korra it's me, Mako…," he said.

Mako! Wait why is he here? How did he sneak past the guards?

"Hey uh… I couldn't sleep I was thinking about you and I just had to urge to check if you were doing alright..,"

Korra felt her cheeks get warm for a second.

"Thank you Mako really… but I'm fine," she said calmly.

The young fire bender sat at the corner of Korra's bed. He touched her cheek.

"Dry tears… Korra I can feel it. You are not doing okay,"

That's when Korra just started to cry. Mako quickly got closer to her and put his arms around her. He put her head closer to his chest. Korra wrapped her arms around his neck and just let all of her tears out on him.

"Thank you Mako… For everything," she whimpered.

"Don't mention it Korra… Just know that I'll always be here for you and that will never change" he smiled.

Mako was about to put Korra to bed, as he was tucking her in. Suddenly Korra grabbed his hand and put it flat on her heart.

"Mako… I can't sleep either… Stay for tonight?" she widened her big blue eyes.

The firebender laid next to her, holding her from the back. He rested his head on Korra's pillow, as she was too. Korra then turned around so that she could be facing him.

"Mako… what if I don't beat Amon?" she whispered.

Mako squeezed her hand even tighter,

"I can say that you will Korra because you have that bright potential. You are amazing Korra, and I'm sure you can take him. Either way I'll be by your side," he smoothed her hair and touched the scratch on Korra's cheek.

"I'm going to make sure you never get a mark like this one…" he whispered furiously.

"It's okay Mako I can heal it myself" she smiled.

Mako smiled and kissed her temple. Korra had warm chills running down her spine. She felt so safe and their heat was amazing. Korra shut her eye, that's when Mako knew she was fast asleep. He put his arms around her and did the same. He loved the feeling and fact that the avatar was safe in his arms.

Mako was her guardian angel of the night…
