Summay: Ichigo's and Rukia's last meeting in the Living World. Because, Rukia has to go back to Soul Society.
Whoosh.
The wind viciously whips my hair around as I stare at her. She stares back.
We are eye to eye, face to face, level to level.
"You still have that defiant look in your eyes," I scowl.
"You still have that scowl," she smirks.
I look straight into her eyes and see the many emotions lingering within. Sadness, concern, longing, despair. Her hair drifts with the wind and I cannot stop staring at it. "Um, Ichigo? What are you doing?"
She's waving her hand in front of me.
"Tch, nothing, Rukia," I mutter.
She sighs and her eyes look glazed, "I guess…. I'd better be going now."
"Yea…" I respond.
My mind is blank. I can't think of what to say next.
"Goodbye then Ichigo," she smiles sadly and slowly walks away.
I sullenly glance at her disappearing form until, out of instinct I call out to her.
"Rukia! Wait!"
She stops and turns her face towards me.
I place my hand around her body and whisper into her ear, "Rukia, will you wait for me? Because if you do, then I'll come for you soon."
Her eyes glitter with unshed tears as she replies, "Yes Ichigo. I will wait for you." "Good," I respond gruffly then hesitate for a moment before saying, "Then I guess it's a promise."
This time she smiles and I smile back, "Yes, Ichigo."
I embrace her one more time before finally letting her go.
Rukia walks slowly away from me, but before she completely disappears, I hear her voice once more, "Ichigo! You'd better keep that promise or else I'll make Arrancars look like bunnies compared to what I will do to you!"
"Yea, whatever. You just keep on dreaming Rukia!" I shoot back.
The last traces of Rukia are gone now. And now, as I overlook the place where Rukia and I had our last encounter in the Living World, I know I will keep the promise. Yes, I will definitely keep it.
Wait for me Rukia, wait for me………
