A birth.

The animals of Freeze City spread the news faster than any human could. Crows and other birds gathered on the rooftops nearby, acting as scouts for humans who might kill the young pup. Cats helps look for food for the parents. All the animals, working together for one more of their kind. The single pup was an orange, huskey-looking dog, eyes forest brown, the size and build of a wolf.

Proud parents looked on. The mother leaned down, licking her pup and whining. Then, suddenly, the pup was alone. The birds took off in a flurry of feathers. A figure in black, blurry to the puppy's eyes, stood in front of the alley. The pup wined, and then, suddenly, she was in the air, being carried. Jumping - flying! She shut her eyes and wined, but a voice made her look up.

"It'll be fine. Your parents took off, but I'll leave you with someone safe." She watched him. Short brown hair swishing slightly, and braclets on the hand that gripped her scruff clinked. He suddenly stopped at an old, crumbling building. Deposting her inside, he winked. "Wait. I'll come back."

The pup looked at him and whine-yipped. The human froze on the edge of the crumbling window he used as an entrance. Turning to look at her, a small, tan wolf with the same bracelets winked at her, then was replaced with the human. He spoke a single word, a name, and then was gone like leaves on a spring breeze.

"Toboe."
