The moon was full and shined very brightly. They each gathered around the fire, Kiki sat down in the storyteller's chair.

"So so you have a good tale to tell tonight?" Eric asked.

"The best." She assured him. "My story tonight is about a girl who learns to survive even when her world is continously destroyed." She knew she had there attention. "Submitted for the approval, of the Midnight Society, I call this story," she took the dust and tossed it onto the fire. "The tale of the Bolt of Fate...

Rivyr-Rose Edwards was a normal 16 year old girl. Except for her nature loving parents, everything in her life was just as it should be. She was starting a new school year, and was looking forward to seeing her old friends when disaster hit. On the way home from a family party a freak storm grew around their car. It didn't seem like something to worry about at first, only rain and lightning. But then a bolt struck there car and Rivyr was shot out the back window, landing a couple feet away. Someone nearby who saw the accedent called for an ambulance and ran to Rivyr's side, holding an umbrella over her face. When she woke the paramedics were all around her; some helping her, some helping her parents. Rivyr got up and ran over to the car dispite the pleas from the paramedics.

"Mom? Dad?" Rivyr was trying hard not to go hysterical but it was getting harder.

"Miss?" one of the men put his hand on her shoulder. They bagged the bodies of her parents and Rivyr's world seem to fade out. "She fainted!" they rusted to help her.

She woke up in a hospital room a bandage on her head, arm, and back. The nurse had given her a needle to help the pain. Walking into the room the nurse carried a clipboard.

"Miss Edwards?" she asked reading the name out loud. Rivyr looked up at her.

"Yes?"

"May I get your first name, dear?"

"R-I-V-Y-R Rose with a little dash in between."

"River?" Rivyr nodded. "That a beautiful name Rivyr-Rose"

"Thank you. Um could you tell me what happened to my parents?" Rivyr asked brushing a lock of waist length blonde hair out of her ivory face.

"Um let me get you the doctor, I think she could tell you more, sweetie." the nurse left for a minute and brought in the doctor then went on with her work of checking that Rivyr was ok.

"Rivyr-Rose when the lightning struck your car it seem to hit in between your mother and father. A build up of electricity shot you out of the car and your parents were eletricuted. If you weren't thrown out of the car you would have been electricuted too. we have notified your next of kin and it seems you'll be going to live with your Aunt on your father's side," she took the clipboard and looked up the name. "A Miss Iris Edwards." Rivyr frowned.

"I didn't even know my father had a sister."

"She lives in Sunnydale California, a far cry from Vancouver British Columbia. She is getting your belongings moved down and you have a plane ticket for tommorrow morning. Nurse Cary here will take you to your house in a bit to pick up a bag of your things."

"Oh thank you." depression hit her and she just wanted to wake up from the nightmare. Later that day she went to her empty home and packed a bag of clothes and valubles. She slept ove at the hospital and was taken to the airport the next morning.

She looked almost identical to her aunt, just Iris was older by ten years. Opening her arms Iris hugged her niece.
