Inflamed Spasm

"Between the desire and the spasm, between the potency and the existence" – T.S. Eliot, 'The Hollow Men'

A/N: Dean's still got it, even when he falls back on his... arguments. 100 words.

Working the Crowd

The crowd whooped and cheered as Dean's powerful speech inflamed the assembled hunters in readiness for the coming apocalyptic battle.

He blushed at the thunderous applause, waving one hand in embarrassed acknowledgement, as he stepped down from the stage. Of course, given his luck, that was when the old wendigo-inflicted injury on his right knee decided to spasm and his leg went out from under him. He bounced twice before coming to a stop.

"What?" he growled, at the dumbstruck audience. "So, I'm not as spry as I used to be... What're you waiting for? Go kick some demon butt!"

A/N: Sam's oblivious to Dean and Castiel's cross words; he's got his own puzzle to work on. 150 words.

Cross Words

Sam was enjoying the rare occurrence of having nothing to do and, while tuning out Dean's whines of boredom, had decided to pass the time with a crossword. He sighed once he realized he was stuck on thirteen down.

Just then Castiel stalked into the room all agitated over something or the other. Whatever Dean hissed at him in response only seemed to inflame the situation.

Ah, stimulate. Now seven across, he thought, as he watched Castiel storm off.

Dean gulped, his face seeming to spasm with conflicting emotions as he looked around nervously, before going unnaturally still on belatedly noticing that Sam was still in the room. Seemingly cast adrift, he got up and sat back down again, only to flee the room a moment later.

Yes, outburst, thought Sam, completing the puzzle. Hmm, that was too easy to figure out, next time I'll go for something more cryptic.
